I have a large one room cabin in my front yard that I am "rehabbing" to a unique little hunting/fishing cabin or just get away from busy city life and have access to my house for showers, other "modern" things you may need access to during your stay

The space

Large one room cabin on 30 acres of woods, the Zumbro River, a little slice of heaven I have out here. Any hunters dream since my land is crawling with deer, turkey and other wildlife. 20+ apple trees (the deer regularly come to eat from)...wild berries, grapevines, asparagus and access to a ridiculously large vegetable garden

This is a "work in progress" so definitely not 4 star accommodations in the cabin... But a unique way to get away and "camp". As I update the cabin I will post pictures. There is a queen size bed and two couches with pull out beds available to sleep on in the shack. Microwave, radio, as basics to the cabin. Will add things as time goes on! So since this is a " work in progress " for now if you are staying in the cabin and for whatever reason (I won't take it personally) you aren't comfortable with the accommodations in the cabin you can stay in one of the spare rooms in my house (there are bad storms here I would not want you in the cabin during one of them!)

***There is no AC or Heat in the cabin and it is not insulated.****

Fenced off most of the land for pasture....there are some horses and cows roaming around. In addition to my two overly friendly and protective former hunting dogs. You may see a dead animal laying around from their endeavors. There are coyotes in the will often hear/see the dogs run into the woods to keep them at bay.

Guest access

My house... Since the cabin does not have running water and currently electrical hookup of an extension cord that runs from my house.

Interaction with guests

I'm a people can interact as little or as much as you want

Other things to note

I have keypad door locks to my house so anyone who stays in the shack I will create a unique code to get into my house. Key code I will program if you stay here will be the last 4 digits of your phone #

This is a really cool place and Rosie is an awesome host, even though we never met face to face she was always just a quick phone call away! Just know, it is what she says it is, a work in progress. Only screens on windows, not insulated, in a cow pasture. But when a storm started rolling in, Rosie told us we were more than welcome to go into the house and sleep on couches or the extra room. All the pets are super friendly too! Definitely would like to see how it turns out in the end!

Rosie was extremely communicative and welcoming though we didn't get to meet her during our stay. The cabin is basic and rustic, but has adequate lighting, nice floors, and a comfortable bed. Hanging out with the dogs, cows, horses, and watching the stars was a lovely experience :)

You're really on the farm! A somewhat rough little cabin (gutted during my visit but Rosie plans to fix) with horses, cows, and dogs wandering around, and fireflies and the Milky Way shining out at night. The room was generally functional: there's a serviceable queen bed, a somewhat droopy couch, some holes in the sides of the cabin and a few tools and other odds and ends laying around (probably because of Rosie's active work on it). There is light but no running water or bathroom. But it certainly fit my needs for the low price point. My partner was concerned about mosquitoes coming through the open holes and missing windows in the cabin so we blocked them off as best we could; we didn't have any issues with mosquitoes though there were a couple wasps in the cabin by the end of our stay. It is right by the highway, and we heard the traffic and the sirens all night long. Rosie works it out so you can access the house and use that bathroom, fridge, etc., a system that worked pretty well. Rosie is quite friendly and hospitable; she might be a little much for some shy city folks but I appreciate a strong character personally. It's a little tricky wandering around at night because you need to avoid the cow patties, but that's part of the experience! ;-) It was hard to explore much of the 30 acres on our visit because it was so muddy from the horses & cows walking around that the woods were basically unwalkable, but may be better in dryer weather.

Rosie's property was beautiful and her and her roommates were all very friendly and welcoming. Even their dogs greeted us when we pulled up and the horses were fun to walk around with. The cabin was very rustic seeing as how she had recently gutted it (which she did warn us about) but it got the job done and the beds were comfortable.

Rosie gave us a tour and made us feel very welcome! Respected our privacy but also was available if needed and gave us great advice on area restaurants! Picture and description were very accurate. Enjoyed the horses, dogs, and cats on site! We would definitely recommend staying here if you're looking for something cozy and removed from the city while still close to everything.

I rented Rosie's cabin for the night while traveling cross-country. The location is great - private and isolated but not far off the main roads. The cabin is cozy, and though it was still a "work in progress" when I stayed, it had electricity, which allowed for a refrigerator (which she stocked with fresh water) and basic appliances. Moreover, she was a gracious host - very friendly and welcoming (as were her dogs); and she opened her home to this weary traveler for laundry, hot food, and a warm shower.

I bought this little slice of heaven in Sept 2013 and trying to make it into hobby farm. I fenced off the land ($$$not cheap$$$) so I can say my guests that stay here are helping me fund my farm! I am a RN at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. Grew up in Wisconsin on a dairy farm wi…
