The Funny Farm Pod
A must for animal lovers
Our on site glamping pod, which is animal themed and very cute.
There are often sheep or special needs lamb residents in the area around the pod.
Just 15 minutes from picturesque whitby and surrounded by national parks and the moors.
Please note we are a plant based sanctuary and have a strict no meat policy

The space
The "Funny Farm Pod"
PLEASE NOTE we are a meat free site, vegetarian/vegan food only.
The pod is close to our house but does now have access to a small secluded area with small pond and views over the fields
We recommend for animal lovers only as lambs and special needs sheep will be your neighbours
The pod has been revamped and now has its own rustic shower shed with camping toilet and shower area.
The pod has a cupboard for storage and a breakfast bar area, a fridge, toaster and two ring burner for cooking
It's warm and cosy and has an electric fire that soon warms up.
PLEASE NOTE
We are a working farm/Sanctuary ~ at certain times of year when we are feeding lambs etc this attracts rodents. We have humane measures in place to control this but we cannot guarantee you will not see a rodent.
The huts are located in a small forest so that also means we are home to nesting birds, so there will be bird poop on site.
This pod is for adults only and sleeps 2 people, no dogs due to the closeness of the sheep

Guest access
The booking is for the pod and garden. Animals can be seen from the field gates but we ask not to enter the fields. Sanctuary tours, sheep walks and goat walking can all be booked with us if you want the full animal experience.

Other things to note
The booking is for the pod that is based on a sanctuary, but this does not include guided tours or entry into fields unsupervised.
We supply bedding but ask guests to bring own towels.
We have a small gift shop on site with hand made products .
Please ask if you would like to look round it

Tranmire is located just off the A171 moor road, within easy reach of the historic village of Staithes, the world famous port of Whitby and the ancient market town of Guisborough.

Whitby is famous for its association with Bram Stoker‘s Dracula, English explorer Captain James Cook and the mysterious Whitby Jet. Visitors can stroll along the harbour walls, from where seals, dolphins and porpoises can often be seen.

Whitby is one of the most famous and popular seaside towns in Yorkshire.

Whitby is split by the River Esk. On the East Cliff, overlooking the North Sea, the ruined Gothic Whitby Abbey was Bram Stoker’s inspiration for “Dracula”. Nearby is the Church of St. Mary, reached by 199 steps.

The Captain Cook Memorial Museum, in the house where Cook once lived, displays paintings and maps.

West of town is West Cliff Beach, lined with beach huts.

As well as being the birthplace of some of modern history’s best known stories, Whitby has a maritime, mineral and tourist heritage.
