Peace and quiet

Guests say this home is in a quiet area.
The property is a mews house stables conversion, once part of the neighbouring Georgian country mansion on the outskirts of the village of Callow End.

Set in a peaceful rural location it is an excellent base for exploring the beautiful Worcestershire countryside, attending local events or even for a work related stop over.

The house is a self contained, annexe to the Stables. It is comfortably furnished and has a small private garden with patio to the rear of the building.

The space
The Stables Cottage, once part of a working Stables and Coach house is a single level self contained annexe to the main building.

Set in a peaceful rural location it provides a perfect base for exploration of our beautiful countryside or just a place to unwind and get away from the stresses of everyday life!

If you are working in the area then here you will find a quiet, comfortable place to work or relax at the end of your day.

Just two minutes by car or a twenty minute walk takes you into the village of Callow End. There you will find a fairly well stocked village shop, open most hours!

The Old Bush which is situated in Callow End serves excellent food and dogs are allowed outside and in the bar area. There is a large patio and well spaced outside eating area which is very popular so booking is recommended.
The Old Bush also has a very handy shop/delicatessen 'The Shop at the Top.' There is a covered outside cafe where you can order breakfast, light meals and refreshments.

As you drive into the village you will see the magnificent Stanbrook Abbey which for over 150 years was home to an order of Benedictine nuns. It is now a hospitality centre for dining, conferences and weddings.
I am told that the lunches and afternoon teas are very good indeed!

Even if you don't want to eat there, the building is beautiful and worth a visit. The Abbey grounds are open to the public for a quiet stroll with, or without your canine companion!

I wish you a safe and happy stay at the Stables Cottage.

Guest access
The entrance to the cottage is through the large white stable door which faces you as you enter the courtyard. The key safe is to the right of the stable door, close to the old water pump.

Please take care on the step into the cottage as it is higher than you might expect. Same applies to stepping from the kitchen into the garden!

During the Winter months and in wet weather the Courtyard area and access to it is uneven and sometimes a little muddy so please take care. Lightning is also low so a torch will be essential particularly if you are arriving late.

IMPORTANT and please note that Parking in the Courtyard area is STRICTLY forbidden at all times! (the courtyard is not my property.)

Your parking area is adjacent to the owners property, The Stables. It is clearly sign posted 'Reserved parking for the Stables Cottage'. This space will easily accommodate two cars if necessary.

Other things to note
When running hot water in the kitchen, please be patient! It will get there, it just has a long way to travel!

There is an emersion heater in the shower room which is set to heat the water over night. It will switch off in the day but the supply should be enough for your needs. If not there is a booster switch. Heating is provided by the night storage radiators if needed.

There is a wood burning stove for extra warmth if needed during the Winter months. Logs are available at extra cost, do ask if these are required.

Please ask me if you are unfamiliar with operating the stove, care needs to be taken and there is a nack! Don't be fooled by its size, it gives off a lot of heat!

If you are booking for two, I will assume that the double room is required unless stated otherwise.
If you need the single room in addition, please let me know in at the time of booking so that the room can be prepared for your stay.
