Camp out on our beautiful property in the Adirondack foothills, about a 15 minute drive to the Adirondack park border. Enjoy some of the best fishing spots in the country, hunting, hiking, mountain biking, and more.

We bought the property in 2018 and have been slowly been transforming it into a functioning homestead. There is a small garden, the beginnings of a food forest, a medicinal herb meadow, and a small edible mushroom cultivation system.

The space
We stock the campsite with:
- bug spray
- newspaper and lighter for fires
- firewood
- solar powered cell phone charger
- flashlight
- first aid kit
- trash, recycling, compost bins

Nearby stuff to do:
- Adirondack Park: About 15-20 minutes to the park border. The largest piece of public land in the contiguous US. Lots of fishing, hiking, and swimming in pristine mountain lakes.
- High Peaks: About a 2.5 hours, absolutely beautiful drive through the Adirondack park. This region is home to the highest peaks in the state.
- West Canada Creek: About 10 minutes away. One of the most popular fishing spots in the country. Kayaking, tubing, swimming.
- Old Forge: About 50 minutes. Probably the most popular tourist town in the western Adirondacks.
- Utica: About 25 minutes. Lots of farmers markets and concerts in the summer. Tour Saranac brewery or go on a brewery tour.
- Herkimer diamonds: About 20 minutes. Mine your own Herkimer diamonds, local rock formations unique to this region (they're not actually diamonds, though...)

Guest access
You'll have access to the campsite area in the back of the property. Guests can come up to the house to use the wifi, but are only allowed in the house under special circumstances. Bring your own tent and gear. Check the weather before you leave, as nights can get pretty cold even in late spring and early fall.

Other things to note
Please note that we have an adopted dog named Sadie who was neglected for the first few years of her life. Sometimes she barks are people when they arrive, but she is not aggressive at all.

This is a campsite, so please prepare as you would for backcountry camping. That means bring your own tent, sleeping bag, and other gear you will require.

I am not able to accommodate RVs or trailers. I have a very long, skinny driveway and there is nowhere to to park something as large as a trailer.

The camp site is not accessible by car. You'll have to park in the driveway and then bring your gear back to the site, which is about a 2 minute walk. All vehicles must be parked in the driveway.

Location

Remsen, New York, United States

It's pretty rural, but there are bars and restaurants not too far away. We're happy to recommend places if you like. There are some amazing places to hike, fish, mountain bike, and kayak nearby, including a state forest about 1 mile away.

I'm an author, design researcher, wild food forager, amateur mushroom farmer, and ecology lover. After 7 years living in NYC, my partner Niki and I decided we had enough urban life, so we moved out to the foothills of the Adirondack mountains to establish a little homestead with our dog Sadie and a myriad of wild animals, plants, and fungi.
