Launched this year, Summer Solstice is a tiny floating house that comes with ultimate solitude. Its designed to accommodate a solo traveler or 2 people, its accessible only by water via kayak or canoe (we provide a canoe if you don't have one)...talk about privacy! Read our reviews!

The space
Custom cherry wood cabinetry and a new flooring and furniture guarantees that you will have a special tiny cozy space in the world, to get away from it all. Two chairs fold out into cot-sized beds for when you are ready to sleep. Bring a sleeping pad or air mattress if you want extra cushioning, some of our guest have mentioned they are a little firm. Anyway, there's a tiny kitchen with a tiny set of dishes and a tiny (french press) coffee maker. A brand new propane grill will be on the patio, and a 30 qt. cooler is provided. Everything is tiny except for the experience - that will be BIG! ONE canoe is provided with the property if you don't have your own kayaks, etc.

Guest access
Your parking area is shared with the guests of our villa "Cedar Springs Reserve" , as is the canoe/kayak launch area. But you will have the whole tiny thing to yourselves. The lake is 398 acres, in Spring and Summer, you will only see our villa guests (that house sleeps 8 but its usually booked by 2-6 people), in Fall, there may be some duck hunters out there. But mostly, you will have the lake to yourself.

Other things to note
You will want to bring your own food and water, (lots of water it gets HOT out there!!)paper towels, napkins, TP, (we started with tp and paper towels fully stocked, we just want you to leave it that way), and pack light! There is not much room to stow stuff. There is no cleaning service but it will start sparkling clean when you come, and you will be expected to clean it before you go (sweep, wipe the tiny dining table and the tiny kitchen counter) the place is tiny, so its not a big job! Broom/Dustpan and antibacterial wipes and cleaning supplies are provided. There is a porta potti for a bathroom, and the kitchen sink is where you can wash up. We will have a water jug on the deck for rinses as well. All the lights and even the little evaporative cooling fan in the house are solar powered, so you can feel good about the eco-friendly nature of our little place. Bring bug dope. We have window screens, but if it is Summer in Wisconsin, and that means mosquitoes, ticks, horseflies, all kids of wonderful winged and crawly critters. Don't mean to put you off, just being honest here! The water in the lake is crystal clear and warm due to its shallow nature, (deepest point is only about 10') but it is a large lake so there are plenty of nooks and crannies to explore and tons of wildlife. Our last guest reported a curious otter swimming up to the deck! This area is very remote and your cel phone will not likely have service out on the lake, so plan accordingly. Most guests do have service at the entrance to our property. If you have a weather radio, bring it so you can be aware of severe weather in the area. The house had endured a series of thunderstorms already this year but we will leave it to you to decide what to do in the event of inclement weather. There is a small motel in nearby town of Oconto Falls (10 minutes away) that you could take refuge in.

the neighborhood is chock full of reeds and cattails, loads of ducks, geese, otter, beaver, and fish. there are no people other than the family that rents out our house on the property, but you are sharing 147 acres + 398 acres of lake so you will pretty much have a whole lot of space to yourself. The public ramp to the lake is a disaster, and no one uses it. There is only one other house on the lake, and we have never seen other people on the lake other than our selves and our guests.

My husband and I are serial entrepreneurs who enjoy doing things together, work, play, hunt, fish, garden. (Check out our startup company "Roving Blue". ) We are easy-going, low stress folks and appreciate hosting the same kind of people. We trust you will enjoy our home (s) and would treat it with the same respect that you would treat your own. We have put our heart and soul into renovating the house, and building the tiny floating house unique property. The sun room is not complete yet so we don't advertise it at this time, and the price is adjusted lower accordingly. We welcome your interest and are eager to answer any questions that you may have so please ask away!
