Sibylle was away whilst we stayed at the apartment in Cong, but we were met by her friend Larissa who was very welcoming. The place is very cosy and well equipped. Great location for exploring Co Mayo and Galway. We did find the accommodation quite stressful as Sibylle keeps many dogs on the property in kennels at the back. As we had a dog with us, this meant there was quite a lot of barking every time we arrived or left the property. There was one night where the dogs started barking at 12.30pm and this started our dog off and the noise carried on till 1.30am. Lovely place but bring earplugs!

Response from Sibylle:
I am very sorry, Ruth, that my dogs were disturbing you with barking while you were staying here. My sincere apologize for this situation, which, unfortunately was out of my hands, the responsibility was with my house- and dog-minder Larissa, she was well instructed to keep the dogs quiet while I was away to see my family in Austria. Obviously something went wrong and I only got to know this through your review. As past and future reviews proof, my place is actually considered very quiet and peaceful and my dogs are well behaved when I am with them.

We arrived to a lovely welcome, discovering that Sibylle had made us homemade shortbread. The neighborhood is lovely and quiet, with not many houses around, and the nearby village Cong has a fantastic deli with local produce (try the lamb!) The walk through the woods to Cong is a must, it is full of trees covered in moss and ferns. The flat is very light and there is lots of space for the two of us. The kitchen is modern and the house is clean and warm. Sibylle had lots to recommend for our visit, including the best times to see live music in local pubs and has lots of information on local activities e.g. walks and the Aran Islands boat trips. We really recommend staying overnight on the Aran Islands as you can see a lot more than if you just go for the day.

Nice apartment, fully equipped kitchen and bathroom, we were 4 adults and one baby for 3 nights and there was plenty of room for all. Sibylle made us feel welcome, nice touch with chocolates and shortbread on arrival. The apartment is the top floor of Sibylle's cottage, there is ample parking and it is on a very quiet road. Sibylle keeps a lot of dogs but they are kept separate from the house and were generally quiet aside from a few feeding frenzies. The apartment is about a mile from the lovely village of Cong, which is walkable but along a fairly main road. You are also about 10 mins drive from Ballinrobe with take-aways, ATMs etc; and right on the doorstep of beautiful Connemara with loughs, mountains and beaches aplenty.

Response from Sibylle:
Cong is walkable through the most scenic woods from my house, I am sorry that Stuart & family didn't find it. No need to walk on main roads.

Sibylle is a very kind host. She lent us a rolling pin.when we asked for. Please note the apartment is on the second floor of Sibylle's house. Don't be surprised by the golden retrievers behind the house (could be a little bit noisy).

The house is comfortable and Sybil is very nice and helpful to give you directions. All the rooms are clean and the house is immersed in the countryside silence, but also two minutes drive from the village.
