The kitchen - New Refrigerator with Ice Maker, pots, pans, utensils, forks, spoons, knives, plates, bowls, cups, mugs, basic spices . . . virtually anything you need to cook up your own specialty meal and/or make pancakes for breakfast. We do stock simple items and condiments for an easy meal upon your arrival and breakfast items for your first morning, we recommend you stop at a grocery to get your favorites.

Outdoors there's a backyard fire pit to relax outside and share stories around the campfire, check the cupboard for smore's supplies. Under the shade tree is a picnic table and grill. We recently upgraded to a gas grill check the case/footlocker next to the grill for utensils, grill cleaner and fire proof gloves. So, go out explore the area come home and fire up the grill and have a great cookout.

The cottage Wi-Fi Internet is supplied by Comcast Internet Pro service unlimited 200Mb/sec . There is a wired Ethernet cable on the business-friendly laptop desk. Worry free high speed all for you, no slow down due to sharing the Internet with a hotel filled of guests or metered satellite internet, plenty of speed to stream movies, do Facetime/Google Duo, stream music and upload photos and videos of your adventures.

The main living area has an awesome 4K home theater/sound system, for the techies it's a Atmos Dolby 7.1 surround sound system, just listening to your music streamed from your phone is great, movies are just awesome. You can watch Cable TV through the TiVo, which has many recorded popular shows. The Cottage has the Apple 4K TV, through its Apps you can stream movies, Included streaming services are

With Chromecast you can cast your phone to the big screen, there's a small library of Blu-Ray movies for the 4K Blu-Ray/DVD/CD player, feel free to pick up a rental from the local Red box at Walmart or Food Lion. The Cottage is a real home theater/family movie night experience.

The Cottage heating and cooling system will allow you to keep the temperatures just right, you can adjust the temperatures at the thermostat or ask for password to control it from the Nest app on your smartphone.

In the bathroom it is stocked with towels, there's a full-size washer and dryer to keep your clothes clean, for those guests who like the freshness of of outdoor drying feel free to use the clothesline in the yard. We stock the Cottage with enough laundry detergent & dryer sheets for a few days.

In the Cottage we ask for a smoke free environment, outside there is a barrel for the cigarette butts. If it is raining (or not) feel free to smoke in the screened in porch of the main house.

The water is supplied by a well and filtered, although we stock bottled water, feel free to taste the clean water from the tap.

The term "The Cottage" is a kind of tongue-in-cheek name we gave to a transformed garage, it's really just a cool efficient space for up to six people.

Our goal is to provide a true "home away from home" experience, like "I feel at home here" (even if it's just for a few days) We will give you a brief tour of the features on arrival (if you arrive late, we're cool with that. We will make sure you can get in by yourselves and we'll check in with you in the morning if you want) after that the Cottage is yours. We will knock on the door, as it's your house, and will not enter when you leave during your stay. We have had more than a few first time Airbnb guests and you can see by our reviews we are getting closer to the "Home away from home" goal.

When you arrive, we've had guests drive from distant locations, there are some
snacks and beverages in the refrigerator and cabinets, in the morning time feel free to make some delicious pancakes!

We do have a "cleaning fee" I have a full-time job and I'm usually not available at the time for cleaning, so I pay a fair wage to those who keep the cottage clean.
Feel free to make a reservation, ask a lot of questions, and if it's not for you it's okay to cancel.

Quiet neighborhood, you will probably hear birds chirping and singing in the morning. You may see our dog Topsy, a Bichon Friese, he may bark at you from a distance, but likes attention.
We are semi-rural, you may see a deer while driving up the driveway, occasionally they may activate the motion sensor light usually in the winter months. Deer tend to scatter when you see them.
Off in the distance you will hear far away trains passing by, it's not loud at our location but if you listen you can hear them. Feel free to walk around the property and enjoy the forest and grassy areas.

I've got to have my smartphone, I have iPhone (work) and Android (personal), can't do without it. I'm an action movie fan, my latest TV addictions are Seal Team, Billions, Agents of Shield and Game of Thrones. Traveling is always memorable, I've been to Japan, England, Germany, Mexico, Canada and India. Home base is Ashland VA it's a short drive to Richmond and within driving distance to Washington DC, Virginia Beach and Charlottesville.
