The space

(Please read entire description to answer questions about kids, pets, over two people and transportation)

Cozy, colorful antique room with Cuban flare in artist's creative, quirky, ever-evolving home/ work of art. Beautiful bedroom in a home which is not fully completed. One block from the bay beach. Your host, Ted is an old hippie who is young at heart, who will share his eclectic home, warm hospitality, and ideas for a fun-filled island adventure. Enjoy bicycling or hiking around the island, exploring the rocky shore-line, relaxing on the beach and dining at local restaurants. Just a 20 minute ferry ride from Portland. Get away from it all to this memorable and beautiful island spot! Stay here for a laid back island experience and a tower view of sunsets over the Diamond Islands in beautiful Casco Bay that's priceless.

First floor bedroom with shared bathroom on first floor.
*Sinks in bedroom not yet functional.

How do you get here?

You can either park your car for free at your own risk on the street in Portland, at the ferry terminal in Portland for $25.00/ day, or bring your car on the ferry (see below for rates). If you are coming by foot, you can either make arrangements with Ted for pick-up in advance, take the Island Taxi to "Ted's Place," or walk for one mile on Island Avenue to the Tree House. Let Ted know in advance if you would like a ride to or from the ferry for $3.00 per person if more than one, and $5.00 for single person. Either way, we recommend you pack lightly, bringing only what you will need for the time you will stay.

Ferry to Island:
Off-Peak Rates: October 12 - April 16
Vehicle which includes one ticket: $37 round trip
Walk on ticket: $4.00 round trip

Peak Rates: April 17 - October 11

2 guest maximum, Sorry no pets, no exceptions. I love pets, but the house is not set up for them. Parts of the house are still under construction, so unfortunately it's not ready for young children, sorry.

Ted is a wonderful host who clearly enjoys sharing his island with his guests. He is very communicative and helpful. Operative word for the house is cluttered, sometimes with interesting items (yes, subjective), but often not, and often just storage items. Little to no interi…
