The more than 200-year-old Cretan farmhouse is located in the village of Assomatos, right next to the village church in a quiet location, about 200 m above sea level and 7 km from the beach town of Plakias (the main town of Finikas) (near Preveli Monastery). From the roof of the terrace you have a magnificent view of the sea and the setting sun.
The space
The house has been completely renovated while preserving its originality. It has about 110 sqm of living space, an open kitchen with fireplace and old round arch with transition to the spacious living room preserved in Cretan style.
In the kitchen there are washing machine, dryer, stove, barbecue, coffee maker, fridge with freezer compartment. Downstairs there are 2 bedrooms with double beds for 2 persons each, on the upper floor there is another bedroom with double bed for 2 additional persons. There is also a spacious wardrobe (6-door
). From this bedroom you can enter the magnificent terrace, as well as from the idyllic garden next to the village church, which is accessible from the kitchen, with also existing shaded terrace under palm trees and orange trees.
Crockery, laundry and towels are sufficient, for cool temperatures 2 auxiliary heaters, 1 gas oven.
A library of several hundred books of modern and classical literature and local conditions is also available.
Assomatos belongs to the municipality of Finikas, has about 150 inhabitants, is only 25 km away from the big city of Rethymnon (north coast). In the village there are 2 taverns, a mini-market, an interesting local museum of the former pastor Papa Michalis and a pottery shop. Large supermarkets are available in all nearby places.
Assomatos is located outside mass tourism, is the starting point for many interesting hiking tours, is close to 7 beautiful beaches. On the beach are many wonderful taverns with inexpensive food.
A rental car that is recommended can easily be booked directly at the airport or on site. Prices are approx. 150,- €; per week.
Prayer is made for clean leaving of the house and regular watering of the garden. Our guests do not have to worry about the final cleaning. The laundry should be washed and left dry if possible.
