Lovely little historic cottage on a horse farm in a beautiful area of Palmyra, Virginia. We were running a little late and received a call from Mandy checking to see if we were ok...very thoughtful. The cottage is historic but has has some updates and Mandy has cute, quite furnishings that complement the house. It was wonderful of her to let us bring our dogs and as responsible pet owners, they were leashed and crated when we were out. Mandy provided some fresh baked pastry to enjoy our last morning. Mandy was the perfect hostess and the property suited our needs. The deer outside the bedroom window and waking up to horses in the pasture were an added bonus!

We enjoyed our stay at Samantha's guest cottage. Samantha was very responsive and friendly. The cottage a simple country cottage. It is not in top repair (a little worn down around the edges), but spacious. The bedroom has 2 single beds. The grounds are beautiful and very quiet. The horses and dogs are wonderful to be around. I took a riding lesson -- the price for a one hour lesson was high and helmet rental is additional. So check the price before deciding. The horse in my opinion is more suitable for advanced riders. A very sweet horse, just a bit fresh. The dogs are among the cutest I've ever seen and will play with you in the yard as long as you like. The breakfast was yogurt parfaits, which were good. Bring your own coffee or tea, there is none in the cottage. Overall, a nice place to stay.

Response from SAMANTHA:
Anne, I'm so sorry you did not find the Twinning tea and Trader Joe's coffee in the cabinet. Thank you for letting me know so that I will now leave them out for the guest to find more easily. On our Airbnb listing, we advertise a fee for helmet rental so that it is not a surprise to anyone. As many farms do, we have found it necessary to charge for helmet rentals so that we may do what is necessary to keep them sanitary. Our lesson fee is the same fee we charge to all of our customers including the ones in our riding program that ride and show with us regularly. Our lesson fee is customary in our area for someone with my skill level. Our lessons horses range from beginner to intermediate mounts so that riders are not put on horses that may be more than they can handle or on the other hand if you are an intermediate rider, you won't be bored. Thank you for your review. Warm wishes to you both.

Mandy is a great host. The cottage is simple, clean, and very pastoral. It is a great home base for exploring Central VA. Mandy made incredible breakfasts and was very responsive. It is a beautiful property full of horses, dogs, and if you are lucky, some deer.
