Definitely one of our best experiences in Japan. Authentic, humble, relaxing. Great food. Great hosts. Trip to nearby waterfall is great too

Shinya and Chizuru are two of the most gracious and welcome hosts we've had the pleasure of meeting on Airbnb. Their generosity, knowledge and time just adds to the wonderful home they have created. High up in the hills, this little gem made us so happy. Their house and the village is a destination in its self, there are so many walks to explore in addition to the Kumano Kodo trail. The calm, but hardworking lifestyle they have is very hard to not admire. Their attention to detail around our stay we epic. They have a simple but rustic touch which feels a little more considered than a lot of other Airbnb's these days. The room, was fresh, clean and very comfortable for us. It felt honest and made it easy to settle in quickly. The most amazing part for us was their company. Such kindness and humour made us feel sad to leave them. As many reviews have mentioned Chizuru's cooking was tip top! She is a little wizard! Simple but again great touches and detail. Totally going to 'try' and recreate some of her glorious food. Shinya is also a master herbalist with so many fascinating interests. We hope others enjoy their stay as much as we did. If we had stayed for longer, we might have never left. Thank you Chizuru and Shinya you wonderful pair!

Due to a medical issue we did not actually stay at the Airbnb but at a nearby temple that Chizuru and Shinya arranged for us. Despite this Shinya made sure we had everything we needed including thoughtful and meticulously prepared vegetarian meals. We spent time on the farm and in the village and it was lovely. But Shinya's friendly open spirit is what we really loved. It was a pleasure spending time with him.

Excellent is probably a good place to start a review on our stay. Communication was perfect to say the least. Chizuru replied always with deep certainty and information. Afterwards she was kind enough to give us some directions on our plans: buses, timetables, etc. Chizuru's sweetness and Shyn's (her husband) dark humour kept us laughing for long long time. These are also very educated people so one could talk practically about any subject. Accomodations were simple but very enjoyable. It was probably our best hosting experience in Japan we had. Highly highly recommend it. One can't simply praise it enough.

Chizuru's place is a warm, confortable and wonderful house amid forests, farms and hills. Chizuru and Jukai are more than helpful: they are always ready to introduce you to their house, farm and everyday life, first of all their fantastic meals (plum vine, sake and tea included) without losing their curiosity. We found a warm place to stay after 3 days of walking in kumano kodo, something that we considered home. We absolutely recommend them.

Although just two nights may not be enough to really enjoy everything this wonderful place has to offer, we had a great time cooking, chopping wood, sitting and chatting and enjoying the relaxed atmosphere! Our little adventure to Senninba was also a refreshing experience, very good to cool down from the summer heat. This is a fabulous place on the countryside, you can enjoy the warm hospitality of the owners and Chizuru is an excellent cook, she will serve you some of the best organic food in Japan! Real Japan. Thank you so much!

I like traveling and cooking. I play ukulele it's very fun. Here in Irokawa village beset of with mountains , relatively easy to reach to Kumanokodou world heritage, you can experience not only rural life but also natural farming here. (URL HIDDEN)
