Our 'Tranquil Haven by the River Fane' is just a 12.5 KM. drive from the M1 Motorway and part of the famous ‘Drumlin Country' of Co Monaghan. 'Candlefort Lodge', a self-catering apartment ideal for four people at the lower ground level of our home, is a bright,self contained and private area. Come to our locale and enjoy a relaxing experience with a beautiful outlook onto a spacious garden with the River Fane flowing by.

The space
A tastefully decorated bright and roomy apartment with a fully fitted kitchen /dining /laundry and lounge area,
Two en-suite bedrooms (double bed and twin beds and bed settee-if required) . Ideally suited to four guests but a maximum of five may be accommodated following discussion. (additional charges apply).
Towels, toiletries and hairdryers provided.
Independently controlled oil-fired central heating with an ample supply of hot water and
A cosy fire effect electric stove in the lounge area.
Garden furniture is provided for outdoor seating or dining.
Well equipped with WIFI, a smart TV (Netflix, U-Tube), books, playing cards and board games.
A beautiful full flowing river at the end of the garden is a key feature but this means it is not safe or suitable for young children or toddlers.
This apartment is really well suited to holiday makers and sport lovers alike who seek a quiet hideaway, or just want a comfortable base to attend sports, music events, weddings, family gatherings or who may wish to visit the many tourist spots within a day’s trip of Inniskeen.

Guest access
There is a gentle slope down the right side of the house to the apartment. Guests will have full access to this self contained apartment with its own private entrance. There is an outdoor private fenced flat area for car parking and outdoor dining which is disability friendly. Guests also have access to a large garden / lawn and a paved pathway leading to a seating area by the river.

Other things to note
The River Fane flows along the end of the garden which is a very attractive feature on our property but it is not safe for young children/toddlers. Parents who bring children have to take responsibility for their safety.

There is a 'blue' bin for recycling household recyclable materials. Soft food waste can (if wished) be disposed of and washed away using the mechanical inkSinkerator and water- (instructions are provided.)

A dishwasher is installed for your convenience. As standard, guests are expected to cleanup after cooking and dining and put out their waste bin bags in the bins provided for household and recyclable waste. Items for laundry are to be left in identifiable piles and the apartment to be left tidy before departure.

Inniskeen village where we are situated is a very pretty location in south County Monaghan. The community is quite progressive, partaking in many cultural and sporting activities and the ‘Tidy Towns Competition' marks are steadily on the rise each year. The delightful scenic 'Fane Walk' along the bank of the River Fane passes close by a 6th Century Round Tower. The famous poet and novelist Patrick Kavanagh was born in Inniskeen and the Patrick Kavanagh Rural & Literary Resource Centre is just a 10 minute walk from our apartment. This centre is housed in what was the old church which is now a permanent exhibition centre dedicated to Kavanagh’s life and works. The centre was extensively refurbished in 2019 with new audiovisual technology installed to provide a modern and accessible experience and was awarded first prize by the European Heritage in Motion 2020 awards -Film & Video category, for its "Pincer-Jaws of Heaven" project . The centre is open to tourists from the end of March to the end of October each year. Group tours of Kavanagh Country are organised on request through the centre during this period.
The village is well serviced with amenities. Two shops for your day to day shopping are within a two to seven minute walk. Two pubs, a social club (bingo on Sat. Nights and social dancing on Sun. Nights and whist on Tuesday nights (visitors welcome). A scenic well-kept pitch and putt coarse and the local church are all within a ten-minute stroll.
The village “Raglan Road Tea Rooms” serves all meals Monday to Saturday 9.00 am -4.30 pm. Sean’s Irish Takeaway is near the coffee shop and provides excellent ‘fast food’ Sunday to Wednesday 5.00 pm. to 10.00 pm and Thursday to Saturday 5.00 pm to 11.00 pm. Many restaurants are within a short drive and details are provided in our guidebook in the apartment.

Now in 2020 we have our apartment ready for receiving guests and we feel it is an exciting adventure for us. This self contained and self catering apartment is bright and roomy (1.500 sq. feet) and has safe free parking space with very accessible features.
