The space

Although some modernisation by the Best family has taken place over the years the house still retains many of the original features that would have been in the house when it was first built in 1949.

Georges room has been restored and recreated as to how it would have looked in the 1950’s with items of memorabilia from his childhood and as he grew up. Dotted around the house are family portraits, images from his football career and old school reports and letters kindly donated by the Best family.

The George Best House is a short 5 minute walk from Ravenhill, the home of Ulster Rugby and a 10 minute taxi journey to Odyssey Arena, home of the Belfast Giants, making it ideal accommodation for sports fans visiting the city.

I manage EastSide Partnership, a regeneration company in Belfast, and also serve on a number of non-profit boards. We also run a number of arts festivals and manage tourism development in the east of the city.

I enjoy travel, sport and arts/music (and my work). I'm 60, married to Adrienne and we have 3 adult children. I have been an airbnb host for about four years, with an apartment in Belfast, but this currently has a longer term tenant. I recently took on managing the George. Best home which belongs to the charity I manage. I also occasionally use airbnb when travelling.

I'm pretty easy going and happy to fit in with whatever 'regime' is in place wherever I stay. Also happy to spend time with hosts but very happy with my own company.

I don't smoke and enjoy a 'social drink', especially craft beers.
