About this listing
Hang out in the heart of Shoreditch, with its clubs, art, Brick Lane, and easy transport to all of London. You stay on the world famous Columbia Road, the Sunday flower market, a riot of colour, people, music, in an artists bohemian creative flat.
I am an artist and yoga teacher with a small very active home, so please don't expect it to be immaculate, everything is used, and my masters thesis is in sustainable design, so i don't throw things away. i am thrifty!. The flat is full of art and eclectic objects, books, pattern, textiles, and gym equipment!!It's bohemian, full of life and friendly here. The linen is always clean for you and I provide breakfast, let me know what you would like. You have my son's room. He is at uni. There is space in the wardrobe and a drawer, a settee, a big games console (vintage!) and a little balcony, filled with plants and a table to sit out. There is one double bed, so 2 people can share. It is situated on Columbia road, so on sunday the street is full of flowers. The address is internationally famous, and filming and photoshoots happen outside every week. It is in the heart of Shoreditch.
There is space for your food in the fridge and you can make simple food if you clear it all away! I am usually there too, and was born in London, so i know lots of stuff about getting around and things to do, including clubbing and bars, as well as the yoga and alternative holistic scene.
You may join me in my living room to relax. There is a tiny bathroom and loo and of course the kitchen is in the living room. I love meeting people and having a chat! I welcome you to make you feel that my home is your home.
Interaction with guests
I am able to advise you on how to get around, where to go that would be of specific interest to them, I am a Londoner born and bred and even though it is a massive city, I have lived in different areas at different times and can suggest unusual things to do.
The flat in the heart of Hoxton / Shoreditch. Columbia road is an historic road, in an historic area, it is culturally diverse and is also where people come to party and to be creative. We are close to the famous old street silicone roundabout, and on the edge of the City of London, so it is also the economic epicentre of London. There are many little parks, and some of the most famous markets, including Brick Lane, Spittalfields antique market (thursdays) Broadway market, and of course the famous flower market every sunday under our very window. Have your breakfast watching everyone walking by and see how many celebrities you can spot. The road is full of little independant shops and unique bars and all levels of dining.
The transport links to everywhere else in London are good too, tubes, overground and buses. I can advise you on the idiosyncracies of navigating the rush hour for example so that you arent stuck in non moving traffic. There are also Boris bikes, so you can easily hire a bicycle.
Other things to note
London Transport is erratic at the weekends, sometimes the tubes or overground trains are not working because there is always work going on on the lines, but I can help plan your transport needs. Saturday night is party night in Shoreditch, although luckily the room is quite quiet unlesss you are used to silence. Very occassionaly there might be a party in the nieghbourhood, but if there is a proble, you can move to the living room where i have a double bed / settee. It is part of being London-wise, knowing how to enjoy being right in the epicentre of Londons fashionable Hoxton / Shoreditch. At 4.30 in the morning the flower sellers begin to set up, and the cafe downstairs quietly makes hundreds of bagels to supply the many thousands of people who come to the street every sunday. This has been happening for 200 years!
No smoking, No drugs. Also i am vegitarian and would prefer no meat in the house, although, i will make you a full english breakfast if that is what your heart desires.
