Hi, my name is Birendra. I have been trekking and guiding since 1998 in Nepal, Tibet and Bhutan. I have always had, and continue to have, a strong desire to remain "close to the ground". My experience with trekking began when I was growing up in the Kanchenjunga region of Nepal; In fact, I had to trek two hours each day to get to school! At the age of nine my family moved from the mountains to the Terai region of Nepal, where I completed high school. I then enrolled to Tribhuwan University in Kathmandu, where I earned a Bachelor's Degree in Arts and Humanity.
Currently, I am running my own trekking company called “Adventure Club Treks & Expedition. My company operates tours and trips in Nepal, as well as in Bhutan, Tibet and India. I love traveling. I have traveled extensively through Asia, USA, entire European countries and all the rural areas of Nepal. I love to meet new people and develop enduring friendships with persons of any race, ethnicity, backgrounds or genders who are welcoming, honest, caring and keen on sharing their ideas and experiences.
As a side project, I and my wife (Sarala) are associated with an orphanage based in Kathmandu, called New Ray of Hope, it was established in 2010 to care for children who have been orphaned or abandoned. We currently have 15 children, aged between 4 and 13 who come to us from many different regions of Nepal. The work that we do at New Ray of Hope is vital for the children They are able to go to school every day and in the evenings they take part in organized play activities. We can't change their pasts but we hope that we can change their futures and give them the choices in life that every child deserves. We started to host strangers through Airbnb to support orphanage, we contribute 25% that we get paid by guests.
