My lovely, authentic Nepali home is a 15 minute walk from the center of Kathmandu and the backpacker/tourist area of Thamel. It's near the British Embassy and surrounded by beautiful, hillside jungle.

My home is a 3 story house in a pleasant suburb of Kathmandu called Samakhusi, Ranibari (Queen Yard). This is a very typical Nepalese family home and i live here with my family.

You will have your own clean, private room with Western style toilet and shower with hot-water. The home is close to transportation, restaurants and shops and it’s a lovely, friendly neighborhood. Free Internet service (Wi-Fi) is available to guests in my house.

We will provide you early morning Nepali tea/ coffee for free. We can prepare Nepali food for you (please ask) (small donation welcomed) or you may cook your own.

I can pick you up from the airport if you kindly provide me your flight details (cost: 700 Nepali rupees for day-time pickup and 1200 Nepali rupees for night-time pickup)

Birenda was away while we visited but his very nice family did a good job of making us feel welcome, answering our questions and helping us. We had a private bedroom and a bathroom to ourselves. The walk home at night was a bit eery in the dark, but the neighbours were always nice. We enjoyed our stay and our visit to Kathmandu.

Birendra is an awesome host. He's outgoing, friendly, and was always willing to help with anything! The neighbourhood felt extremely safe, little kids would often greet me with a "Hello how are you?" when I walked to Thamel in the mornings. The Thamel tourist district, is about 10-15min walking depending on how fast you walk. There are some cool temples to see not to far from there too. The house and room were exactly as advertised on AirBnb. No unwelcome surprises when I arrived. Birendra always greeted me with a delicious tea in the morning and some good conversation. He even helped me organize a sweet trek to Annapurna base camp! This is the place to stay while in Kathmandu.

We had a great time with Birendra and his family. We were welcomed by birendra's wife and childeren because birendra was at his office, that was very nice. Especially his daughter who is very smart and funny. At the end of the day we met birendra and could ask him everything about nepal and trekking. We stayed for two nights and the last evening we went out for dinner with birendra and his daughter, that was very nice! Birendra has seen a lot countries (also in europe) and is very open minded. The neighberhood is oké but maybe a bit difficult to find in the dark. So take a light when going out in the evening. We had a perfect stay and wil recomend Birendra to everyone who's going to kathmandu!

Thank You!!

Hi, my name is Birendra. I have been trekking and guiding since 1998 in Nepal, Tibet and Bhutan. I have always had, and continue to have, a strong desire to remain "close to the ground". My experience with trekking began when I was growing up in the Kanchenjunga region of Nepal; In fact, I had to trek two hours each day to get to school! At the age of nine my family moved from the mountains to the Terai region of Nepal, where I completed high school. I then enrolled to Tribhuwan University in Kathmandu, where I earned a Bachelor's Degree in Arts and Humanity.

Currently, I am running my own trekking company called “Adventure Club Treks & Expedition. My company operates tours and trips in Nepal, as well as in Bhutan, Tibet and India. I love traveling. I have traveled extensively through Asia, USA, entire European countries and all the rural areas of Nepal. I love to meet new people and develop enduring friendships with persons of any race, ethnicity, backgrounds or genders who are welcoming, honest, caring and keen on sharing their ideas and experiences.

As a side project, I and my wife (Sarala) are associated with an orphanage based in Kathmandu, called New Ray of Hope, it was established in 2010 to care for children who have been orphaned or abandoned. We currently have 15 children, aged between 4 and 13 who come to us from many different regions of Nepal. The work that we do at New Ray of Hope is vital for the children They are able to go to school every day and in the evenings they take part in organized play activities. We can't change their pasts but we hope that we can change their futures and give them the choices in life that every child deserves. We started to host strangers through Airbnb to support orphanage, we contribute 25% that we get paid by guests.
