Welcome to Shady Palms Byron Bay, a stylish mid-century modern studio, ideally situated only 750m to Clarkes Beach, 200m to the Top Shop, an easy 1km stroll to the town centre and a 3km walk to the iconic Cape Byron Lighthouse.

Shady Palms has a fun, bright, modern design, perfect for singles and couples who seek a unique experience and who love quality features in a clean, fresh and inviting space.

The space
Shady Palms is inspired by our love of all things mid-century modern. Our goal was to create a custom built studio that sparks joy from the moment our guests walk in.

The Location

To us, location is everything when you are on holidays! At Shady Palms, Byron Bay you’ll be enjoying your own private slice of Byron paradise in an exclusive locals enclave, which means you will be literally walking distance to everything you need, such as starting your day with a coffee or chai from the Insta-famous Top Shop, followed by a surf at The Pass, or a walk to the Lighthouse, not to mention a stroll into town without needing a car. And just 500 metres up the road from Shady Palms is a great sunset and moon viewing spot at the Paterson Hill Lookout (local's tip: the Water Tower is one of the best places in Byron to catch the sunset). We are also just up the road from the Beach Byron Bay Restaurant at Clarkes Beach. That’s what we call an awesome holiday location!

The Studio

Shady Palms, Byron Bay is a 26sqm custom built and designed space, with its own private entry, on the lower level of our home. The studio opens out to a bright, sunny (north east-facing) courtyard for the exclusive use of our guests, screened by mid-century design breeze blocks, with views to the Arakwal National Park and Cape Byron.

Shady Palms is located in an exclusive residential enclave – and importantly, what this means is, it is not located in Byron’s party central. When you stay at Shady Palms, you’ll get to experience how Byron locals live, including falling asleep to the sound of the ocean, waking up to the sound of birds, putting on your bathers and heading straight to the magical waters of the Bay for a swim and surf. Originally from Sydney (via Hobart and Melbourne), we made the sea-change to Byron Bay in 2005 and we love sharing our beautiful part of the world with our guests. We really look forward to welcoming you to Shady Palms Byron Bay!

During your stay

Myself (Mili), my husband Dan and our large and fluffy dog Alan (a very friendly Groodle) live upstairs. We work from home and can be available to answer any questions you may have during your stay.

And if you'd like any tips on what to do in Byron to help plan your vacation, just let us know! We will happily share our 'insiders' guide with advice and recommendations about this beautiful part of the world. If, however, you have no need to interact with us during your stay, the studio is entirely your own with its own private entry and access.

Please note, as we live upstairs you will hear us going about our daily lives as sounds do filter through to the studio.
