Charming 1920's Victorian cottage ideally located in the village of Bar Harbor. Lovingly restored and maintained, the Cottage offers a comfortable home away from home in walking distance to everything.
Nestled in the heart of town, The Cottage on Cottage is a graciously appointed townhouse within a Victorian era cottage, located at 69 Cottage Street in Bar Harbor. Shopping, restaurants, entertainment and Frenchman Bay are all within walking distance. Acadia National Park, College of the Atlantic, Jackson Laboratory, and MDI Biolab are all less than a five-minute drive away.
Elegantly restored, this bright and charming Victorian cottage still embodies the charm of its era without sacrificing comfort. High, curved ceilings, original woodwork and hardwood floors combined with well-chosen and comfortable furnishings make this townhouse a lovely place to relax during one’s visit to the area.
This roomy townhouse features two bedrooms (one with a queen bed, the other with two twins), a well-equipped modern eat-in kitchen with marble counter tops, a spacious bathroom with tub and shower, and a grand parlor complete with a bay window, decorative fireplace, and sitting areas. A rear covered porch allows for cooking on the gas grill while the delightful facade and maple-shaded front garden welcome visitors to an all-but-lost old-fashioned community.
Please note that there is a $75 cleaning fee for reservations of four nights or less.
Guests have full access to the 2 bedroom townhouse, one off-street parking space (a real bonus in Bar Harbor in the summer!), a covered deck with a grill, and a charming garden with a bistro table.
Interaction with guests
We enjoy interacting with our guests, and can be as available as they need us to be. This is not a shared home, it is an entire townhouse.
The Cottage is a smoke-free home. We ask that our guests respect the premises and smoke only out doors. We generally do not allow pets for a number of reasons (liability, allergies, damage, etc.), unless the pet is a service animal, etc. Otherwise, we hope our guests enjoy this as they would their own home and treat it as if it were.
I am a part-owner of Island Artisans, Bar Harbor's most complete selection of quality arts and crafts by over 100 of Maine's leading artisans. Our unique collection can now be seen in two locations, our original Bar Harbor shop, and our new gallery in Northeast Harbor.
I also manage the perennial gardens at The Burning Tree, a restaurant in Otter Creek. Much of the produce and herbs comes from its own gardens, with the rest of the ingredients supplied locally whenever possible. Seafood is the specialty here, and it's consistently prepared with imagination and skill.
Both Island Artisans and The Burning Tree are must-sees during your stay at The Cottage on Cottage!
