About This Listing
South London - south of the River - Zone 2
I am offering a double room with the use of a bathroom in my home which is conveniently located for Central London and the West End.
A simple breakfast is included and other meals may also be offered but at extra cost. Please do not assume that all meals are included or that cooked breakfasts are a given.
My guests are more than welcome to join me in the living room in the evenings. My aim is that my guests should feel 'at home' so the use of the piano and garden (Summer only) is welcomed.
Feel free to ask about Wholistic Therapies (services offered by a fully qualified health practitioner/acupuncturist - Member of the British Acupuncture Council). This is at extra cost.
We are located three stops (less than 15 minutes) away from London Bridge Station and less than 20 minutes away from Victoria Station by overland train. A new overland route opened in Dec. 2012 opening up east and west London. The house is situated three minutes away from the train station itself and opposite a Bus Station with buses leaving for all parts of London and beyond.
We are in a residential street just off the main high street which offers basic shopping amenities for the local community. This is a very colourful, vibrant, ethnically diverse neighbourhood in South East London so be sure to read up on the area and decide whether or not you want to be south of the river & are comfortable staying in this part of London before you book. This area is home to many artists and writers.
We are close to Peckham Rye Park, Nunhead Cemetery & the trendy Bellendon Road area. One can take a short bus ride to fashionable East Dulwich and Camberwell.
Frank's trendy roof top bar is worth a visit in the summer and the younger crowd enjoy Bar Story.
Bellendon Road is fun to visit and is within walking distance. There are a few good pubs & cafes that have appeared that has made staying local more appealing. ;-)
We are particularly proud of the small family run, highly acclaimed local South Indian Restaurant which is located a few blocks away and serves the best Keralan food in London (Diner's Choice 2010). It has become so popular that booking well in advance all year around has become essential. :-)
Be sure to visit the Victoria Inn the Montpellier, and the Petitou to eat. New bars such as the Peckham Springs and the Café/ Bar in the Bussey Building guarantee a fun time.
This is not a hotel, or a 'flat/house' sharing arrangement. You are guest in my home in what i understand to be the true spirit of Airbnb so it is appreciated when guests say hello when they arrive home in the evenings and announce that they are off in the mornings.
Regrettably Emily-dog has passed away which brings great sorrow but luckily, the neighbours cat has taken up visiting us on a regular basis. He seems to love the idea of house guests! He can be found hanging out in any of Emmy's favourite spots. ^..^ .
Bear in mind that this house was built in the Victorian era and still has many of the original features. If you are looking for modern, this is not the place for you.
I do not allow personal use of the washing machine - there are laundromats in the area.
There is no cooking allowed in my kitchen.
Most of my guests have become dear friends and we have all been known to cook together which is a different concept altogether but this is by invitation only and not to be assumed. Many of my guests who now live in the UK come to visit.
Most guests have mobile phones so the use of the telephone is NOT permitted except in exceptional circumstances and then must be reimbursed immediately.
We had the loveliest time in this beautiful victorian house.
Liz is a tremendous host. She's always in a contagious good mood and ready to help.
It was always a pleasure to come back home and be warmly welcomed and also nice to wake up every morning with a délicieuse english breakfast waiting for us.
If you decide to visit Liz, Ralf and Stefan (aka Miaow) the cat,
you will feel like home and come back for sure.
Liz is a phenomenal host, she is very welcoming and helps in every way possible; making wonderful coffee and tea for the whole team every morning and sharing her home baked chocolate halloween cake!
Liz's house is in a perfect location, with the convenience of the supermarket across the road and a quick walk from the overground
We could not have hoped for a better host and I thank Liz for her brilliant hospitality
Liz is the best host you can imagine, making a stay in London truly unforgettable. Her house is magnificent, so is the garden - not to mention the magnificent breakfast! Peckham is a gem, and now well connected with central and east London, making it a great base for exploration of the city. We'll be back!
A cosy, very peaceful room close to the multicultural charms of Peckham - the fabulous fruit, fish and veg stalls of Rye Lane, the cinema Peckham Plex, the chilled coffee shops of Choumert Road, the offbeat events at the (former) cricketbat factory Bussey, the legendary Frank's (summer) Bar, and the burgeoning pubs and restaurants of Bellenden 'Village', Artusi being the latest. All is walkable, Liz is super friendly and her breakfasts are delicious - try the pancakes!
LIz is a wonderful, welcoming host. She went above and beyond to help me prepare for my conference and then do a bit of sightseeing. And may lovely breakfasts that accommodated my unusual diet. The home is cozy and attractive. I was sorry I didn't have more time to explore Peckham. Maybe next time!
Finally I stop to thank Liz Alexender and B & B for the indication.
It was WONDERFUL and perfect.
Liz is attentive, caring, intelligent, sophisticated, skilled, super cook, generous and besides everything Prem and Yogi, hehe. All the best!
Harmonious home, smelling and quite cozy.
Breakfast at delicious.
Result 15 days we became friends, I believe forever.
Thanks Liz and B & B.
