Beautiful location right on the shore of Kenmare Bay just 2 miles from Kenmare town. Watch the otters, sea birds and wild deer from your deck overlooking the beach. Relax in the outdoor Jacuzzi or by the wood stove. Spacious recently renovated home, originally built by my grandparents as a holiday home in the 1950s, successfully adapted for the 21st century!

The space

Originally built by my grandparents in the 1950s, on the farm featured in Harry Bewick's 1930s book 'A Wild Taste'. We have endeavored to bring this historical gem into the 21st century.

Guest access

Our private beach and slipway, so guests are welcome to bring their own kayaks and other watersport equipment (at their own risk).
Also enjoy our woodland and waterfall walks through acres of ancient Irish woodland

Interaction with guests

As little or as much as you want!

Other things to note

There is an additional charge for electricity. We read the meter at arrival and departure and work out usage as per current electricity prices
We will not be offering short stay holidays in summer 2015 so in July & August 2015 the minimum stay is 7 nights.
Also as the cabin is heated with a wood burning stove, on cold winter days you will need to get a good fire going to heat up the radiators. A big basket of fuel is included in the price.
Thank you!

The house was amazing and very private. I loved it from the minute we arrived. It is a lot bigger than it looks in the picture. And there was a lot more things available in the house than what is listed i.e. Travel cot, highchair etc, so definitely worth emailing before hand. We travelled with a 4year old and a baby and it was perfect for them too, From the adventures down to the water and the space around and in the house to play and of course the hot tub! We could have stayed here for our entire stay without leaving and it still would have been the perfect little holiday. Would highly recommend staying here and we will definitely be back. It was our best holiday in Ireland!! Thank you Cara

Cara's place was as described. Ideal for anyone wanting to get away from it all with beautiful scenery. Cara was very respectful of our privacy and we really enjoyed our secluded break away.

Great place and respectful hosts that live on the property but leave you be. They even went out of their way to arrange a forgotten item to be returned to us. We didn't expect to pay additionally for electricity but it was only 20 euros for 3 nights. A bit of a far walk from Kenmare town but nice to have a beautiful spot to ourselves on the water.

Cara's cabin is in the most beautiful and secluded of spots just outside the lovely town of Kenmare. It has access to the beach (and sea) and the hot tub over looking the views makes it just perfect. Although there was only two of us staying in the cabin, it was cosy and warm. We had access to everything we could have needed during our stay. Cara was helpful and ensured that we were able to check in and check out when suited us. We paid a bill of 20€ for the electrics we used over our 4 day stay. We would definitely come back to visit again!!

Cara's place is a top notch stay. The location is ideal for exploring the south western part of Ireland. Not to mention it is nestled near the elegant town of Kenmare. We found this place to be the perfect balance of seclusion with a bustling small town just a stones throw away. We were also surprised with the size of the house, ample room to stretch out and relax by the fire. We could have stayed for weeks at this pleasant and charming place.
