Harker Gates is a Grade II listed, 18th Century farmer's cottage sat on a hillside with outstanding views of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park and the valley below.
The cottage lies just outside the lovely village of Hawnby and near to the picturesque market town of Helmsley.

The space
Sleeping 6, this charming detached cottage is perfect for a weekend getaway. Due to its peaceful location it is ideal for walkers and those wishing to unwind.

Harker Gates has been rustically restored and decorated so still retains its sense of history. Flag stone floors downstairs, wood floors upstairs and exposed beams throughout.
The cottage is laid out in its original form; 3 rooms in a row upstairs and downstairs.

Ground Floor:

Snug: Wood burner, two large sofas, Smart TV, wooden floor.

Dining/Sitting room: Dining table seating 6/8. Original kitchen range - *Decorative only*. Stone flagged floor with underfloor heating. Sonos speaker.

Kitchen: Breakfast table seating 4, Everhot range, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, toaster and slate floor. *NO microwave*. Underfloor heating.

Shower room: Overhead shower and loo. Tiled floor, underfloor heating.m

Bathroom: Free standing bath. Loo. Tiled floor with underfloor heating. Beautiful view of Hawnby Hill.

Boot Room: Washer/dryer. Small freezer. Butler's sink.

First Floor:
Bedroom 1: Kingsize bed.
Bedroom 2: Kingsize bed.
Bedroom 3: A walk-through room with twin beds.

Central heating (underfloor in kitchen/dining room and bathrooms), electricity, cotton bed linen, feather duvets, pillows and towels. Free Wi-Fi included. Logs for wood burner included. Outhouse with garden furniture including trestle table and chairs and extra logs.

*Well-behaved dogs welcome but not allowed on the furniture or upstairs*

Bike store. Private parking for 2/3 cars. No smoking.

NB: This is not just a holiday cottage, it is also our home so we hope you will treat it well and appreciate our personal bits and pieces.

*The Stove/fire place in the middle room is not to be used.*

*Please keep dogs on leads as there are often sheep and cows in the fields below the cottage.*

**The road to the cottage is an off-road farm track which is steep at the beginning and then evens out as you drive closer to the cottage.

It is advised to have a car with good clearance.

Harker Gates is only 9 miles from Helmsley which is arguably one of Yorkshire’s finest market towns. This wonderful village is where the North York Moors and the Howardian Hills meet offering some of the finest views and countryside. Helmsley is also a walker’s paradise where the Ebor Way meets the Cleveland Way, and also the Inn Way. With a reputation for great Yorkshire hospitality, the market square is a meeting point for walkers, cyclists and locals alike. Helmsley knows how to keep its visitors happy, with many shops, cafés, eateries including Michelin starred restaurants, an open-air swimming pool, walled garden, castle, bird of prey centre, microbrewery, two abbey ruins and the stately home of Duncombe Park. You will need more than a few nights at Harker Gates to experience all that this little town has to offer. The scenic east coast is easily accessible, as is the historic city of York which is only 24 miles to the south. Fishing can be arranged on the local River Rye (at cost). Shop 1 mile, pub and restaurant 6 miles.
