About this listing

Modern apartment (8th floor), 60 m2, in a clean, modern apartment complex. Big kitchen with espresso machine, dishwasher and bar and large balcony overlooking a green park and facing Amsterdam's city center. Short 15 mins walk to the centre, 10 mins to Vondelpark.

The space

It's a great apartment for 2 people who want to explore Amsterdam. Everything (including centre, Jordaan, Vondelpark) is nearby, without being in a busy neighbourhood.
The apartment is clean, with a big kitchen, Italian espressomachine, dishwasher, fridge and freezer. All free for you to use of course. If it's nice weather, you can have your breakfast on the balcony overlooking the park. If it's a bit chilly, you can wake up slowly on my kitchen bar.
Comfy big double bed, with thick sun-blocking curtains.

Interaction with guests

I will be in Amsterdam to welcome you in person, and can provide tips about getting around and the neighbourhood.

The place: Everything was fully corresponding to the description of the listing. Fantastic apartment with a large balcony facing the Rembrandtpark, comfortable furniture and bed, great kitchen if you like cooking your own food. Wi-Fi was working flawlessly, quite a few TV channels, including in English, easy to use washing machine and dishwasher. Underground parking great addition. The host: Chiel was a fantastic and flexible host that made sure the stay ran as smoothly as it possibly could have run. Surroundings: Place is located exactly along the really nice Rembrandtpark. Takes about 25min to walk to the centre of Amsterdam but three different tram stations (Surinameplein, Postjesweg Mercatorplein) are walking distance from the apartment, as are two supermarkets. There's a really nice foodhall with all kinds of different dishes in De Hallen on Kinkerstraat (walking distance). Also walking distance to Vondelpark (nice pub/restaurant on the way called Gent aan de schinkel)

Excellent experience from start to finish! Well priced, spacious, quiet apartment. Everything was exactly as detailed in the listing. You can't go wrong with this place. Fast wifi and great communication with Chiel!

Chiel was a very likable host and was very helpful in providing information about the apartment and city upon our arrival. The apartment has a beautiful view in a lovely neighborhood with a grocery store nearby; however, we did not find it as convenient a location as indicated in the listing (we were told it was a 15 minute bus ride from the central station, but it is actually 25 minutes, or more when traffic is poor). I would not say that the location is within walking distance to most tourist stops (ie: 40 minute walk to Van Gogh or 1 hour to Central Station). The kitchen is very large and modern (gas stove is very nice to cook with and the dishwasher is an extra bonus!), however, I would not recommend this to anyone hoping to prepare many of their own meals as the amenities were lacking. The non-stick frying pans are all in very poor condition, likely because there are few appropriate cooking utensils (most are metal). What was available in terms of utensils had not been washed properly and we had to wash most kitchen items before use. In addition, the espresso machine was not in the apartment and there was no kettle provided to use the french press which was there. The overall cleanliness of the apartment was lacking. Upon arrival we were informed that there was an issue with the shower tiles and water was leaking beneath the flooring (we were asked to keep showers to 5 minutes). You could see significant water damage on the flooring in the hall outside the washroom, the water leakage had obviously been ongoing for quite some time. There is undoubtedly a substantial amount of mold growth and the bathroom smelled very damp and musty (when the door was not keep closed it caused the entire apartment to smell). I would not recommend anyone book this listing without confirmation that this issue has been resolved and mold has been cleaned up. The shower walls and door had also not been cleaned prior to our arrival and there was only one large bath towel even though we indicated two occupants. There were a number of hand towels that had an odor to them, even after we rewashed them. Overall this apartment has substantial potential to be a great place to stay (as indicated by many other positive reviews), however, our experience was badly tainted by a lack of cleanliness, promised amenities not being available and inaccuracy of the travel times to the apartment.

My wife Amy and I absolutely loved our stay at Chiel's apartment. He was an excellent host who prepared extensive materials about the facilities and Amsterdam in general. The apartment is modern and chic and located inside Rembrandt park, so the surrounding area is beautiful and quiet. Awesome Airbnb experience, thanks!

A fantastic apartment in a wonderful location, set in the beautiful and peaceful Rembrandtpark. A little bit out of the way if you don't know Amsterdam, but close enough to walk in and out of the centre, with fast and frequent tram access very nearby. And, for us, the free, secure underground parking was a real bonus. There are some great places quite nearby, particularly along Kinkerstraat, before you arrive at Jordaan/Centrum... restaurants, etc., as well as Vondelpark. Chiel is an outstanding host - one of the best we've come across on Airbnb. He is extremely personable and professional, speaks incredibly good English - with an impressive library of English-language books in the apartment - and is very knowledgable about the city. He briefed us in detail about the facilities, etc. and was very accommodating when we arrived a little early. The accommodation is, indeed, far better than the pictures suggest. Fairly compact - admittedly - but smart, modern, and very neat and tidy, with friendly neighbours in the block who always said 'hello' when we met them in the lift. The large balcony that overlooks the park is great too. All in all - highly recommended.

We had a wonderful stay at Chiel's apartment. The flat is spacious, very clean, with all the amenities you may need. There are great views to the park and its only 5 minutes walk from the tram. Chiel's been a super-welcoming host and gave us great tips on where to go and what to do in Amsterdam. We would highly recommend Chiel's place!! :)
