The space

We would like to welcome you to our lovely warm and bright flat in the centre of London, with space to breathe by the canal. While you are here, we will be working likely, so the place is yours completely throughout the day. Ailidh is a Youth Participation Manager, and Nicky is an Architect. We are both from Scotland but have made London our home for the past 7 years and are keen to show you the best parts of our neighbourhood and beyond!

Since we have taken the professional photos, we now have a proper full double bed in the bedroom, so you will have more space to enjoy a peaceful night's sleep. There are full height windows, for either a lovely view or total blackout with the blinds down, however you like to sleep. We can host 2 adults, and a baby if you have one.

Your bedroom will be totally private, and you can also share our living space and dining room with us, in evenings and weekends when we are not working. As you make your morning tea and coffee you will hear passing cyclists, runners and ducks and geese, whatever the time you wake!

Our flat is 2- 3 minutes away from some gorgeous canal side cafes for excellent coffee and brunch, and delicious evening meals, so you will be spoiled for choice before exploring the walk down the canal. We can give you lots of hints and tips on things to do nearby or further afield, but just to give you an idea:

The flat is in the heart of Hackney, on the Regent's Canal, and benefits from the ability to walk to central sights such as Barbican Centre and St Paul's Cathedral and Tate Modern and it is 25minutes to the Olympic site. We have great transport links- 3 minutes to buses to take you 20- 30 minutes to South Bank and London Bridge and local tube connections to take you to all parts of London. You can get to the V&A and Natural History Museum with a 15 minute enjoyable wake up wake, then a 20 minute tube ride.

We are 5- 10 minutes walk from Dalston and Shoreditch with great night life scene, many excellent Turkish and Vietnamese restaurants, a local Londoners fruit and veg market, high street shopping and a independent cinema.

We are also 10 minutes walk from Angel, Islington which hosts vintage shops and market, high street and boutique shopping, restaurants and pubs and a Vue cinema for a fun day out. We will also be happy to tell you about all the markets nearby- independent crafts and clothing from London and the world, food and flowers.

Our location means you can do local, independent, nature or central, bustling and London loving- or both as you please, as easily as each other.

We look forward to meeting you!

Interaction with guests

We will be in the flat some evenings after working hours 6pm onwards and part of the time at weekends. Guests can call us at other times if they need assistance.

Other things to note

We have a lift for ease of access, we are on the 3rd floor, and the flat is also accessible in a wheelchair.

Nicky and I live in London, by the regents canal in Hackney. We enjoy good food and good company, countryside walks, exploring cities and living in London. We love travelling, both in UK, europe and the wider world, and recently we have travelled to Athens and Syros, Istanbul, South India. In 2013 I lived in Uganda working for VSO for a year, which was quite an experience, and now I am looking forward to being settled in the UK once more.
