Where you’ll be

Greyton, Western Cape, South Africa

Have I mentioned the market? ;-) Yes, I am a fan, so are our children, our family and our friends and just about every local in Greyton. Its the Saturday morning highlight and a firm tradition... Walking is mandatory, well not really but we highly encourage it as it is part of the experience. Remember to take a shopping bag for all the goodies you are bound to buy. Lovely to pick up some nibbles for an al fresco lunch on the patio back at the house, while supporting the local trade ! Again, you need to be there early to nab the rather addictive freshly baked loaves, homemade quiches and delicious pastries. Don't be surprised if whilst taking a stroll, you encounter horses casually doing the same thing ... a lot of horses roam free in Greyton, cows too ! Its all part of the charm :) Not one robot (traffic light) in the Village, only a small little grocer to tend to your grocery needs but thankfully it is very well stocked and if you can't find the item you looking for there, well the Hardware store across the road is bound to have it ... Yes, thats right, the hardware store :) Rent a bike in town and cycle through the neighbourhood admiring the houses, the gardens, the mountains - Its not uncommon to see Moms, Dads and children from as young as 3 all out on their bikes. Pull in for a refreshment on the front porch of the Post House and enjoy some people watching or have a beer in the bar, made famous by 'that' whisky advert - "Give the man a bells!" Go for a hike in the nature reserve, theres some majestic waterfalls as a reward or throw pebbles in the river. Enjoy the quiet, breathe and exhale x

During your stay

Upon confirmation of your booking, the House Manager will contact you via email to introduce himself / herself and furnish you with relevant information. Once your ETA is confirmed, the House Manager will meet you at the house and give you a quick run through the property and answer any questions you may have - including suggestions on where to dine, what to do and most importantly ... what time to get to the market to beat the pancake queue (whatever number of pancakes you thinking of getting, triple it ... they are that good... oh and take cash, cash is king apart from a few stalls which use Snapscan). The House Manager will remain contactable by phone, should a need arise throughout the duration of your stay.
