Our honeymoon stay at James and Keiko's amazing tree house was just wonderful. James supplied great breakfasts, coffee, conversation and local knowledge which meant all we had to do was enjoy the apartment, the beaches, the volcanoes, the stars, the geckos... oh, and the hot tub (with the stars, and the occasional gecko). As long as you don't mind a few creepy crawlies, then it's highly recommended.

I wish we could give 6/5 because James and Keiko definitely deserve it! I could write an essay on how awesome it was to stay with James. The tree house is amazing and James is the most wonderful host you could hope for. His breakfasts, and own grown coffee, are incredible (I miss them already) and he gave us the best suggestions of what to do everyday, right up to the day we were leaving when we got to swim with dolphins in a bay. Amazing! James' suggestions will save you a fortune in tour costs and make sure you have a superb time, I feel like we got the most out of our time here because of James' guidance. This was the second stop on our honeymoon and it was magical thanks to James. We also got to meet James' sister and husband who were just as wonderful. The treehouse is an absolute treasure, beautifully decorated, equipped with everything you need (inc. snorkel gear, flippers, beach umbrella, coolbox etc.) and in a stunning location. We loved falling asleep to the frogs at night (not croakers but more like singers) and waking up to see the ocean from our bed! And the hot tub was fab! We have nothing but the highest praise and love for the week James gave us, just utterly perfect. Thank you James and Keiko, beautiful people. Mahalo :) xxx

The place had tons of character, waking up to the sounds of nature in a tree house offered a stay that I would struggle to match. James and Dawna very own picked coffee and breakfasts were also a treat. Great stay

I really enjoyed my stay here, James was super informative about local places and incredibly friendly and welcoming. Three of us stayed here - two in one room and one in another and it was a good size for us. It's a great, quirky place if like me you like the sounds of the forest and have no problem with bugs and geckos. It's a great location - close to everything in Kona and way better than staying in the town nearby and what a view to wake up to!

This property was a great base for exploring the Kona area and felt like a fun jungle adventure! The host, James, is very knowledgable about the local area and has plenty of ideas for interesting things to do. It was great to have conversations over breakfast and James' own brand of coffee as he's a very welcoming and interesting person! Many thanks for a great stay!

The treehouse is in a stunning location, nestled in the forest, and James and Flora are great hosts. James was exceedingly helpful with all our annoying traveller questions and recommended some great restaurants and sights. We loved this place and would come back anytime, but if you're not a nature lover, this place may not be for you! It is hawaiian style, with no glass windows, but meshing to keep out the mosquitoes, which means you feel you are in the forest-a unique experience. We loved the forest sounds at night, and weren't bothered by spiders, or roaches(you are in the forest after all), and fell in love with the many cats they have! They even bought us a bottle of wine because it was our honeymoon, and have some great snorkel gear for guests to use, along with beach towels etc. The house is just 10 mins away from central Kona by car, so very convenient, but feels like you're in the rainforest, away from the madness. Thanks James and Flora for a lovely time!

Thank you so much James --we loved staying at your home and you were such a gracious host! While it was quite a bit more rustic and open air than we had anticipated, you helped us get comfortable with the wild natural environment around your home which is truly extraordinary! We found ourselves imagining how the Native Hawaiians might have felt in the days before contact with westerners. Thank you for making our visit to Kona so enjoyable with your adventure ideas, talk story time, exceptional coffee and fantastic cooking!

James is a passionate coffee farmer, lover of good breakfasts and beautiful sunsets. His wife Keiko can usually be found behind her camera, on the hunt for fresh mangoes or in the ocean snorkeling.
They met through Airbnb, can you believe it? So of course they are passionate about Airbnb's "LIVE THERE" concept and love to host guests from all over the world.
