The space

Audubon Landing would have been a starter home in the mid-century, for a member of the "Greatest Generation". The home is furnished with vintage pieces or pieces of the style of that era (electronics excepted). Take a trip back to the 1950' coming around again.

Guest access

It's hard to beat convenience. Groceries, pharmacy, and two large parks are within walking distance. The Highlands strip is a three mile drive, as is the airport.

Interaction with guests

Hal and Meg are absentee owners. They communicate by text, email or phone to cover any questions or requests.

The neighbourhood

To the immediate west is Audubon Park. We love to walk its streets and five small parks. It is a designated bird sanctuary as well as a listed National Historic Place. To the southeast is Joe Creason Park, Beargrass Creek Nature Preserve and the Zoo. The dogs love Joe Creason Park. Do you like cemeteries? We do. We think the stories held by these plots of land are fascinating. There are two cemeteries a mile to the ghosts sighted...yet!

Getting around

There is a TARC (Transit Authority of River City) bus stop a couple minute walk to Poplar Level. It is on Bus route 43.
There is parking in the driveway of Audubon Landing including covered parking in back for a single, medium-sized vehicle (it's a squeeze getting in and out of the covered parking - careful). The garage is not available to guests...too small anyway, it's storage. The airport is 3.5 miles away, an 8 minute drive.

Other things to note

Dogs are considered at Audubon Landing, but must be cleared with Hal or Meg. There are some strict pet rules, but nothing insurmountable. We have dogs ourselves. There is a one-time Pet Fee of $30 for approved pets that is charged separately.

House Rules

We have a Security/Damage Deposit agreement that all guests will receive. At the top of the list is NO SMOKING! Audubon Landing is our home for three months of the year. Guests in our home are expected to act as such with respect for our property and our neighbors.

Check In
I am really lucky to stay in this house, everything was good and warm, my colleague and I had a very wonderful 4 nights there. The house is very comfortable and clear, kitchen, bathroom, heating equipment are all perfect, also have a working place with the desk and printer. Besides, outside environment is quite and good for running in the morning. Close to restaurants and shops, and also free way. It is a good place and convenient. Eric Chung

Perfect house and host! We truly enjoyed our stay here. Everything we could need was available for us and the host was readily available if we had questions. The fenced backyard was great for the dogs and the location was in a nice, quiet neighborhood, just down the street from two grocery stores, lots of little restaurants, and inexpensive gas. We will definitely stay with Hal again!

My family of four recently spent two nights here. The beds were amazing! THE MOST COMFY BEDS we have ever slept in, the kids agreed too. The towels were big & fluffy & there was much attention to detail throughout the home. Beautifully furnished & impeccably clean. Harold was a fabulous host & communication was quick & easy. Great laundry facilities too.

I absolutely loved my stay at Audubon Landing. The home was very comfortable, very clean, and in a quiet neighborhood. It was conveniently located in Louisville, with quick access to the interstate and the airport. The host was very helpful, welcoming and responsive which was nice. The beds were super comfy and I appreciated the quality linens. The back screened-in porch is a gem!

Hal and Meg's home was absolutely beautiful. It was clean and a pleasure to stay in. The neighborhood was quiet and safe and close to several grocery stores and connivence stores. We will definitely consider Audubon Landing when we visit Louisville again!

I had a great experience at Audubon Landing while I was in Louisville! The house is very comfortable and very well appointed. Everything has been thought of and you will not find yourself in need of anything. I'd happily stay here again anytime in the future!
