Cassia is a bespoke Shepherds Hut, constructed August 2021.
Situated on Stockland marshes perfect for walking and bird watching , a quiet retreat to get away from it all. The coast is five minutes drive away. This area boasts one of the UK’s largest new wetland reserves, providing habitat for a mix of wetland wildlife, including otters, wildfowl, owls and waders, migrating birds are an attraction and varied wildlife including dear can often be spotted.

The space
Finished to a high standard with luxury bedding and towels from Portugal, certified log burner, fire wood supplied, plus central heating, fully insulated with sheep’s wool for those cold winter nights. There is a cooker, hob and fridge in Cassia. For those very warm evenings there is a fan and an air cooler available. Cassia has its own toilet and shower and a small private patio with table and chairs. Tea, coffee and some milk are provided.
Cassia has its own internet connection.
Opposite Cassia there is another holiday let the Snug which can also be booked if you want to travel with friends. We do not have an electric car charging facility on this site .

Guest access
Ample parking and use of owner’s garden, with small patio area at the front of the hut for your own personal use.

Other things to note
We do have two very friendly dogs on the premises but they do not come out unless I am taking them for a walk, if you don’t like dogs just let me know and I will make sure they are on the lead when I come out with them .
Other guests have use of the garden although each have their own private patios and we do request that guests are mindful of each other’s privacy and need for peace and quiet which our guests come here to find .

We are happy for guests to smoke outside of Cassia and there is a cigarette bin on the side of the garage, but please do not smoke or vape inside.

This is a rural setting with nearest large supermarket 25 minutes drive away, and pubs 5 to 10 minutes drive. The coast is a 5 minute drive or 30 minutes walk down country lanes. WWT at Steart support many bird hides for public use and paths for walking or cycling .
The Quantocks are 20 minutes drive from here with stunning views for miles and beautiful walks with wild ponies and perfect for mountain biking.

Jim my husband and I recently moved to Mill Barn with my mother Shirley. We decided to leave the noise and bustle of life in East Sussex to have a more quiet and peaceful home life in Somerset. Stockland Bristol and it's beautiful surroundings have been a real blessing to us all. Walking the marshes, along the beach at Bridgwater Bay and the Quantock Hills have become a favourite past time along with tending the garden.
