Charles offered a perfect rest on the last night of our journey along the Pennine Cycle Way. The place is lovely and spacious and very relaxing. Charles seems to really enjoy hosting his guests and provided a great spread at breakfast time, chatting to us in between popping into the kitchen to keep a check on things. We only stayed a night but felt so welcome. The village is small but the pub is a couple of minutes walk away with plenty to offer the hungry and thirsty walker or cyclist. We had a very restful night's sleep and would happily return if we ever decide to complete the Pennine Way on foot.

Response from Charles:
Chris, that would be no problem at all. The blog might be very difficult to find, I got fed up with it and blogger was being an arse so I deleted the lot of it! But there are a few articles I wrote for The Gooner website - I was also published in the actual fanzine which I was quite proud of! My email address is (EMAIL HIDDEN) if you want to fire me a message.

I stayed with Charles at the end of walking the Pennine Way. It's a beautiful spot where he is based, right in Kirk Yetholm. I was worried that having walked 265 miles, I might find it was another 5 miles out of the village. I was very wrong. However, I didn't have the energy to go anywhere or do anything other than wash, wash and wash! A great little haven for tired and weary legs.
