Unspoilt local pubs such as "The Old Gate" in Brassington - great buzz on a Friday night and good pub food. Amazing "The George at Alstonefield" - for utterly delicious food - "My perfect Peakland pub: lime plastered, lit with fat candles and configured for lunch" - Sunday Times. Simon and I moved back to Derbyshire from London 27 years ago - we absolutely love living here and relish being so close to Ashbourne. With three children (now all in their twenties) it has been a fabulous place to bring up children. Although our children (young adults!) are grown up it's always lovely to have families to stay.
