AS stated in the description for my apartment; mandatory state taxes are being collected after the booking is made. It is a nuisance for me to go through this process , however after years of letting Airbnb charge their service fee on top of the taxes, last year after giving the matter consideration and discussing this with airbnb, I decided to go this rout (and not for lack of good taste), For airbnb to receive an extra % service fee on top of the mandatory state of Hawaii 15% GE and TA taxes when those taxes are built into the nightly price, seems wrong. In many states airbnb has come to an agreement by which taxes can be separately collected at the time of the booking without charging their service fee for taxes but in Hawaii it is an ongoing issue for the governor and the state to decide on the subject of vacation rentals and how to apply the GE and TA taxes. Other privately owned vacation rental owners either do not pay the GE and TA taxes which is illegal and an issue our state is now dealing with or they don't mind Airbnb collecting a greater service fee,( 8% from the 15% taxes which goes into airbnb pocket). The condo is designed in the Japanese tradition style thus the two beds and the Japanese style bath, Like you, I am 5'5" and have never considered it an issue to get in and out of the bath nor has my 80 year old mom, however I am happy you brought this up so that guests know: it is a Japanese style bath.
