The space

You are welcome to stay in my Bright spare bedroom. It accommodates two single travelers. I would gladly rent this monthly to the right person. The room is sparsely furnished. One Queen size bed, a single lofted bed, table, desk and small couch. The room does have a window, which is nice for the mind! All are welcome but because of the shared bathroom and Gang Shower, guys are usually more comfortable with the facilities because it is similar to what you find in a locker room.

This is a sex-positive shared living environment and because of the unusual space, the sights and sounds of intimacy are not always completely private. However, respect for each other is essential and discretion is preferable.

I will provide clean sheets for your beds and warm blankets if you should need them. The room has plenty of storage space. It is private, comfortable and clean.

Guest access

You have total access to my space, including the kitchen. I have a manually operated freight elevator that is off limits but can be used to transport heavy items if you require. I have fantastic roof access with beautiful views of the New York Skyline. Bring your lap top computer and connect to my WiFi. If you sit in the right space you can enjoy the WiFi in the open air on the roof.

Interaction with guests

I’m a busy guy during the week and often we will only see each other briefly. On the weekends I have more of a presence, but not by much. I’m quick to respond through email and text if you need me. I’m glad to chat and offer assistance at any time. However, I am not an overly interactive host.

The neighbourhood

My Artist's Loft is located on the top floor on a quiet street in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. This is a very safe and friendly part of Brooklyn to visit. The Franklin Avenue shops, restaurants and bars are just around the corner. Williamsburg and all it has to offer is just a short walk away.

Getting around

The closest Subway station is the Greenpoint Ave G, also in walking distance is the Bedford Ave L and the Vernon Blvd 7. By subway, I am located 25 minutes from Union Square, 26 minutes from Times Square, 30 minutes from Central Park, 38 minutes from Tribeca and 25 minutes from the East Village. The B61 and B43 bus stop is only a block away and very helpful when weather is uncomfortable. JFK is one hour away by public transport and LGA is 25 minutes away by Cab.

Other things to note

Much of my furniture was custom made by the artist Jean-Marie Mauclet of JEMA Design and all my lighting is eco-friendly LED's.

House Rules

Be respectful! Use your quiet voice late at night when others are sleeping. Turn off lights when you go to bed. Wash your dishes. Keep your area organized. Close the door behind you and be sure it locks. Make sure the toilet has flushed properly before leaving the bathroom. Recycle.
No running or jumping on the roof. Don't leave any trash on the roof. Do not invite a guest or guests over without notifying me. Be extra courteous to my neighbors.
Take care of the place and it will take care of you!

David is a good host. He went out of his way to take care of my requests. There were other guest travellers in other rooms and I found them friendly. Even though the apartment looks old, the room itself suits the badic needs of the budget traveller who cant stand the overpriced Manhattan accomodations. The neighborhood is basically a residential area and feels quite safe late at night. I usually came back around 10:00 or 11:00 pm. The only drawback is that there is no locks for the room and the bathroom, makes u feel a little uneasy if you are a girl.

David's place is cozy and has an amazing view of Manhattan skyline. WiFi is really good and there are couches and a table, suitable to work with a computer like I did. The place has a fully-equipped kitchen and a supermarket just 3 blocks away - ideal to buy some groceries and cook your own meal not spending that much. The subway (G train) is just 4 blocks away, and you can go to Times Square in 30-40 minutes, which is actually a good feature of this very affordable place. The hosts David and Mark are kind and helpful. The room was not that big, but good enough to have a good sleep. The building and the neighborhood are quiet and calm. I will definitely come back.

Me and my friend stayed at David´s place for five days, and we can totally recommend it. David´s friendly and helpful, apartment is clean and nice with great view of the skyline from the roof. It´s close to subway and with a lot of bars, pubs, shops etc. around.

David is a nice and helpful host. Building is old and neglected, but apartment is fine. Area seems to be safe and apartment is not far from metro station.

Great space and very interesting building. Hosts were amazing and very responsive. David was very lenient with my check-in time. If you're looking a different NYC experience, this place is a great start. Get some coffee and hangout on the roof!
