Come and stay in a traditional North Queensland Pub in one of the towns oldest suburbs, South Townsville. Take in the sweeping views of Castle Hill from the wide timber verandah with your morning coffee, enjoy a drink and delicious meal at skull and swallow cafe downstairs or perhaps a swim in the tropical pool.

This is an independently owned and operated family pub/hotel with great live music offered on weekend nights in the beer garden.

The space
The rooms are set in a traditional North Queensland family run pub in a local inner city neighbourhood. The rooms have internal access as well as french doors opening up onto the large veranda that is shared with other guests. Shared bathroom facilities are located close by.

Guest are welcome to use the pool in beer garden. On occasions the verandah may be booked out for private functions. We will endeavour to let you know when this space is off limits.

Other things to note
Please note this is a full functioning pub so there will be noise. We have live music until 10pm in the beer garden on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and the public bar may be open as late as midnight on weekends. The potential for private functions hosted on the verandah may also contribute to noise when this is booked. Due to a shared bathroom policy we are unable to accept bookings for anyone under 18years. No third party bookings allowed.

The Commonwealth Hotel is a 121 year old Queenslander Pub. Locally owned and operated, we host guests in clean and comfortable "old pub" style private rooms with shared amenities. We have 2 fully functioning bars, a pool, a great menu with delicious food from 7am in the cafe through to 8:30pm in the beer garden 5 days a week, and host live music every weekend. Although we are close, we offer a free shuttle bus to and from the Queensland Country Bank Stadium for most major events.
