Built in 1838, the Selkirk Lighthouse still guards the Salmon River harbor at its convergence with Lake Ontario. Rental options are FIRST FLOOR ONLY, SECOND FLOOR ONLY or the ENTIRE Lighthouse. Its beacon shines brightly today for fishing charters that call the marina home and for mariners and guests enjoying a special stay in this historic structure. Lighthouse-themed gift items, tees, polos, sweatshirts, hoodies, beverages and snacks are available in our Marina Store/Gift Shop.

The space
The Salmon River (Selkirk) Lighthouse is one of only two left in existence that has a "bird cage" lantern design and is also unique in that the lighthouse beacon sits atop the main living quarters. The 1st floor accommodates up to four (4) guests and has a full kitchen, full bathroom with shower, dining area, living room with a pull-out double size bed/couch and a bedroom with a double bed. The 2nd floor accommodates up to four (4) guests with two (2) double beds in the main room, the secondary room has a couch, tv, mini-fridge and K-cup coffee maker. Upstairs also has a newly renovated full bathroom with shower. Other amenities include central air, free Wi-Fi, picnic table, fire pit and grill.

Guest access
The Lighthouse sits at the mouth of the Salmon River near its convergence with Lake Ontario, where Steelhead, Brown & Lake Trout, King (Chinook), Coho and lake-run Atlantic Salmon are abundant. Daily fishing charters operate from our Marina docks directly in front of the Lighthouse. Stunning sunsets and a beautiful, sandy Lake Ontario beach across the River from the Lighthouse are available for guests via rental canoe or kayak, and depending on availability of parking, by auto.

Other things to note
Children and extended family members are especially welcome. Sorry, no pets permitted in the Lighthouse.

Our family grew up spending summers at the Salmon River (Pine Grove) Beach, on the Lake Ontario shore and directly across from the Salmon River (Selkirk) Lighthouse & Marina. We have loved and cherished the Lighthouse for decades because of its history and its beauty. But unfortunately the Lighthouse had been severely neglected for many years, so our family committed to purchase the entire property and bring it back to its glory days. We started by renovating the Lighthouse in 2014 so that overnight guests would feel comfortable and "at home" and would love their stay with us. Over the past several years we have completed the bigger tasks needed (new roof, new windows, new central a/c & heat, painting and stone tuck pointing, for example), and have brought back to life as many of the original historic elements of the Lighthouse as possible, including a restoration of the original 1838 plank flooring. Our efforts are sincerely a labor of love and respect that we proudly share with others who can appreciate a very special and historic place from another time in history. The Selkirk Lighthouse overlooks the Marina in the harbor right at the entrance to Lake Ontario, with salmon fishing charter boats taking their guests out to the Lake to catch brown trout, lake trout, Coho and Chinook (King) salmon, returning back to the docks each day. Directly across the River is the Salmon River Point Beach, with sand dunes, a sandy beach, great swimming, or just a place to catch a nap, a tan, or some of the best sunsets found anywhere. The Marina has canoes and kayaks for rent, for fishing or just exploring up river. There is also a boat launch at the marina, so if you have your own boat, you can launch it there and dock it while you stay at the Lighthouse. There are lots of other things to do nearby, but you will probably wonder what happened to your days and nights as you unwind, relax and enjoy being at the Salmon River....
