Full of history and romance, this fabulous 19th century tower house has been transformed into a luxurious holiday home sleeping 8 on the west coast of the beautiful Isle of Arran. Originally built in 1875 for the Duke of Hamilton, this impressive property is in a prime position by the River Iorsa within the parklands of the impressive Dougarie Lodge. Surrounded by beautiful countryside with stunning views across to the Kintyre Peninsula, Dougarie Beach is a magical place to spend an afternoon.

The space
A wonderful property for a luxury holiday or special occasion for family and friends.

Laid out over three floors, this truly delightful and extremely stylish self-catering house accommodates the eight guests in great comfort. Fabrics and furnishings, subtle lighting and decoration have all been carefully selected to enhance its special character.

The grand arch entrance, thick castellated walls, original slate roof and arrow-slit windows add to the romance and give this house its quirky charm. The stylish kitchen is perfect for making family meals, with the double glass doors opening into a large sitting/dining room creating a wonderfully sociable space; gather everyone together for meals around a table seating up to ten. Afterwards, enjoy long evenings in front of the open fire. The ground floor also has French doors opening out onto the garden.

The first floor has three fantastic bedrooms, two with en-suite showers as well as a separate bathroom; the second floor has a further bedroom with an en-suite shower. All are beautifully presented with sumptuous mattresses and fine linen.

The absolute highlight of this property is undoubtedly the roof terrace, complete with table and benches with its fantastic views across farmland and over the Kilbrannan Sound towards the Kintyre Peninsula – a place of great beauty and tranquillity. As well as this, there is also a lovely garden at the rear with a picnic table and benches creating a perfect background for a summertime BBQ or some al fresco dining. Guests are welcome to enjoy the surrounding estate grounds and there is also private parking.
