About this listing

Please see the "detailed description". This is a wonderful opportunity to experience a traditional small village in this region of France. A perfect jumping off place for the many attractions nearby, then come back to the quiet and calm terrace and enjoy a glass of wine.

The space

Experience country life in the lovely village of Boutenac, nestled in the Corbieres wine country where every turn in the road is postcard picturesque. Located in the Department of the Aude, this area of southern France is rich in history and bathed in straightforward and welcoming authenticity.

The house has three clean, spacious and charming bedrooms, a full kitchen, 2.5 baths, and a pleasant terrace with bar-b-cue.

This simple but very comfortable home comes well equipped with DSL, maps, brochures, and views of the wine country. Boutenac is .5 hour to good beaches; 2.5 hours to Barcelona; .5 hour to the great cities of Carcassonne and Narbonne; and minutes to villages of exquisite beauty, historical interest, and excellent vineyards. The house is in the center of the village, a few steps to the shop and the colorful Bounty Bar/Restaurant. This quietly bustling village is friendly and inviting.

Lavender Room - King Bed
Blue Room - Double Bed
Yellow Room - 1 king (and Single in alcove)

A 4th bedroom can be made available with a bit of preparation, it has two singles, bringing the total sleeping spaces up to 9 people.

Wireless DSL throughout. Printer. Washer/Dryer. Books, games and puzzles, maps and guides.

This is a village townhouse, so we have stairs. Very young children could be at risk. Please consider this if you are traveling with little ones.

Very limited public transportation from the village itself. Nearest rail station is in Lezignan.

My husband, Tom, and I will do what we can to make your stay a pleasant one.

Janis and Tom were the most wonderful hosts. They made us feel so welcome. They waited so patiently for our very late arrival and constantly communicated to make sure we were ok as my son was very sick the day we were travelling to Boutenac. Once we arrived they were very helpful with settling us into the villa. The daylight displayed just how gorgeous this place is. The accommodation was so cosy with everything you could possibly need and accommodated all 6 of us very comfortably. The views were amazing and the little town so quaint. It's truly something to experience. It's also very close to some beautiful medieval towns and swimming holes,, vinyards and the coast. Far away enough to experience the country life but with so much to do in the surrounding areas. We loved that we could enjoy the mornings with breakfast on the terrace and local wines and cheese in the evenings. We truly just loved this place. The only down side is it was far too short. We would definitely love to stay here again. Please experienced it for yourselves.. You will not be disappointed. Thank you again Janis and Tom.. You are both so kind.

This is an absolutely fantastic place to stay! I would recommend it 100%. The house is located in a small, quiet and charming little village that is perfectly situated to explore this fascinating area of France. It is beautifully decorated and has an extremely well- appointed and highly functional kitchen. We cooked all our meals at home. The beds are very comfortable and the bedding and pillows felt high quality. The shower is amazing! The views out the windows are gorgeous. And to top it all off, Janis and Tom are warm, welcoming and helpful.

Janis and Tom were wonderful. They took our booking at the last minute, invited us in for a drink and made sure we were comfortable. They even recommended a local dentist for me! Their place leaves nothing to be desired. The setting was idyllic, and the accommodations were spacious, clean and well appointed. With three bedrooms over three floors four of us were able to spread out and relax. We rode bikes straight from the lodgings to wine tasting locations, and it was also easy to see a lot of beautiful villages and countryside quickly by car. On top of that, it's an easy hop over to both Carcassone or Norbonne, both places well worth visiting. I highly recommend Janis and Tom's spot and hope I will be back there myself!

We had a wonderful stay in this delightful house in Boutenac. The area is beautiful and close to many interesting sights. We spent two days visiting Narbonne Plage which has a fabulous beach. Janis is an excellent host and has thought of everything to make visitors feel relaxed and welcome. The house is brilliant, very spacious, spotlessly clean and exceptionally well equipped. We would love to return. Thank you Janis for your kindness and generosity.

This was our very first holiday using airbnb and maybe we have a real problem now: It was absolutely perfect so it can only get worse in future ;-) The charming old house, situated in a lovely french village is very comfortablefully and fully equipped (there are even different types of cushions available!). With Janis and Tom being just perfect hosts and the fine october weather we had a wonderful stay down there. Thank you!

Loved it! Very nice traditional and spacious house in a lovely village of Boutenac. Janis and Tom took great care to support our stay. Each of questions was answered with wealth of information and good practical tips. The house is in the centre of the village, lovely located between all the main landmarks (church, restaurant, shops). Everything was at hand, great food, wine, beaches (lovely drive to Narbonne Plage) and the hearth of amazing Cathar country. Our kids greatly enjoyed the house and in particular big terrace that is nicely shaded.

My husband and I have been enjoying the lovely village of Boutenac as a vacation spot for the past many years (since buying the house we have listed and in which you would be staying). Now that we are both retired, we also own a second house in Boutenac where we spend much of the year. Our interests are travel, meeting new people, renovation of older properties, and good food. We find the location in this area of France to be ideal for all of the above. We have three grown sons who have been coming here since the youngest was in what we Americans call Junior High. They all three love the casual simplicity, the relaxing atmosphere, the natural beauty, and the kindness of the people in Boutenac.
