Lovely place! Especially for me as a mountain biker. Great trail right out back and many others close by. Apartment was cozy and all my needs were taken care of quite graciously and promptly. Do be aware that this is a basement apartment below an old farmhouse and there's a fami…

Stayed a week for business. The owners of the farmhouse were lively, warm and friendly folks. The suite in the cellar ended up not meeting my needs, Marilyn was responsive to my concerns and I found lodging elsewhere.

I stayed here for 6 nights while I was doing some filming in the area. It was the perfect place for one person to stay while getting some work done. Marilyn was a fantastic host, who went out of her way to accommodate a late check-in on account of my plane being delayed. Her son …

Marilyn, John & Christine were a delight to stay with. I loved the privacy of having a studio basement suite, but having people just upstairs if I needed anything. They were very accommodating for my late check-in and came out to greet me personally to walk me through the ameni…

Airbnb, I did not stay at this location. I was not available last minute due to a broken AC unit. I was offered a different rental that is rented out full time w/ one room left available for Airbnb guests private use. The main issue I had was that the cleaning for the shared s…

Response from Marilyn:
This was Emily's first airbnb stay, and it is evident from her critical and inaccurate review that she neither understands nor appreciates the fact that she is renting a space in a private residence. When the air conditioning system at my family's farmhouse broke down in the middle of a summer heat wave, I offered her lodging in a beautiful furnished bedroom in my woodland cottage about a mile down the road on the other side of the lake, at the same cost as she was charged for the farm studio, although the airbnb listed price for the cottage suite is higher. The 20'x20' cottage bedroom has a queen size bed, real leather sofa, quality artworks, office area, walk-through closet, Scandinavian teak furnishings, upholstered wingback reading chair, Australian cypress hardwood floors, large windows and plentiful programmable lighting, ac and heating. It is beautiful, meticulously maintained, and has been very popular with our guests. So it is also with the shared dining area, laundry, kitchen and shower. I personally clean each of my airbnb rooms and all shared spaces prior to the arrival of any guest. In this case, I thoroughly cleaned the tub/shower, toilet, sink, and ceramic floor with clorox and "bubbles", laundered the white rugs, towels, and turkish bathrobe, and can certify that all were hygienic at the beginning of her four day visit. In addition, I provided a supply of large Parisian quality croissants, coffee, milk, fresh fruit, fresh eggs, yogurt, cereal, and additional pastries. Emily stated that she needed privacy and quiet, and asked not to be disturbed. Respectful of her wishes, I did not re-enter the suite during her tenure, but informed her that I was working in the adjacent building and that she could text me if she needed anything. My tenant in the second floor cottage room reserved that space for a month, and he has been a most gracious guest. As a former marine, he is extremely neat and tidy. Any user of the shared spaces is responsible for cleaning up after himself. During the three years that I have been an Airbnb host, this is the first time that a guest departed without leaving a note or saying good bye. I recognize that it is not possible to please everyone all the time, but this was a disappointing experience for me, and a hurtful one. Please note that this review refers to the woodland cottage suite and not for the farm studio.

Marilyn was a great host and the lodgings were wonderful. She actually offered us the option of an alternative rental (she has several available) for no extra charge when we arrived. Marilyn was full of amazing stories, both about her long family history in Boyds and her amazing …
