Very clean, comfortable room overlooking a pretty garden in this charming Victorian. The neighbourhood is great - lots of cute shops, bars and cafes, and a lovely park! Sue was very welcoming and helpful. Would definitely stay here again!

Sue seemed a pleasant host; unfortunately she was not well after the first of my three nights' stay and our communications were more brief than already anticipated from the room description. The room was as described although somewhat tired; the microwave and small fridge were on the floor with little room for manoeuvre. I never did manage to get the very old TV to work: none of the buttons had any markings left; nobody was around to ask and my e-mailed question on my third evening received no reply. The bathroom/shower facilities were basic: the sink is very narrow and slightly recessed into the wall which makes it almost impossible to wash one's face without ending up with soaking wet feet. The hot water tap was lose and rotated in tandem with every turn of the handle. The house itself is nice and the area is great for bus transport, restaurants, cafes and delicatessens.

Response from Sue:
This is a very unfair and biased review and at odds with the experience of the many many guests I have had staying here, both through Airbnb and Doctor in the House. I was indeed ill, quite badly, which made it difficult for me to be as attentive as usual. Because I like to be pleasant about guests who come here I left a positive review of Sally but the truth is she was really picky, and critical about everything and I knew would be difficult from the start. I left her what others described as a lovely breakfast and she ate none of it. Everything was a problem for her - she even lectured me on my health! I take trouble with my guests to make them feel welcome. Those who have been here have booked to return again at various times. Sally also seems to be complaining that I was not in to show her around, when she arrived EARLIER than the AGREED time, when, of course, I would have been in. i am sorry to say that after leaving a nice (but not entirely truthful review about her) I can only say that I think she is the sort of person that always finds fault. All I can say is that I am sorry she was not happy here, that I like to make my guests feel as welcome as possible and you will have to weightthis review up against the very positive reviews I have received from other lovely guests.

I booked this room for my parents to stay over while they were visiting me. Sue was lovely, she was welcoming to them and prepared nice breakfast in the morning. Because my parents were visiting me they did not need advice on the city or area. The room was nice and as described. The are is great!
