We had a great, if too short, stay at Ann’s place. It’s a great place for 4-6 people, very well appointed lots of thoughtful amenities, a clean open airy floor plan, huge deck with hammock for star gazing. Close to local hot spots like Blanco, Pedernales, Johnson City, Hamilton Pool, Wimberley... The acreage (28!) it sits on is really cool, good day walks down to the creek. We enjoyed every aspect of our stay, highly recommended.

This was a very nice place for five lady friends to gather, relax and have a retreat. The quiet was a blessing, as well as the view, the lovely walk to the creek, and the amazing number of stars at night! The house was well equipped and homey..... Thanks Ann, for sharing your space.

What a great location! Beautiful view of Texas Hill Country. Plenty of privacy and seclusion. Your own private hiking with a small creek. It doesn't get much better!

This was our first big family vacation and this great house in the perfect location made it so easy to have a great time. All the country a city boy could want with a nice piece of land to yourself which ends at the creek. All the comforts of home from the comfy house with the spacious deck, fully loaded kitchen, and all the amenities you would expect to find in a hotel. Dripping Springs is a short drive from here and they have everything a city dweller would want or need including a nice HEB. Pedernales Falls State Park is literally right down the street. We had a blast there swimming and hiking. The home was all that Ann says it is and she made it so easy for us to make ourselves at home.

Ann's place was exactly as described. The land was fun to explore (we saw a gray fox!), the deck was chill and the house was full of thoughtful amenities. Only a 12 minute drive to Pedernales Falls State Park and less than 40 minutes to cool swim spots like Krause Springs, Jacobs Well and Hamilton Pool. The creek behind the house was mostly dry (August) and not swimmable, but still beautiful and great for rock and driftwood hunting. We didn't have phone service on ATT most of the time and there's no wifi. Perfect for unplugging, but important to know. You may have to walk around the house a bit to find service. Overall, great stay!

Girraween is a beautiful respite above the trees on a huge piece of land. We had a wonderful time relaxing and enjoying both the house and the local area. Ann is communicative and makes sure you are taken care of, but also gives you your privacy. The house is well appointed with everything you need. We cooked all of our meals there. We were 6 adults and we had plenty of room. The deck is awesome at night, though keep the lights off both for stargazing and to avoid an onslaught of bugs drawn to the light. Bonus: there are NO MOSQUITOS. We were there in mid-July and enjoyed sitting outside at all times of day and night without getting eaten alive. Be sure to hike down to the creek. We saw armadillo and a bobcat in addition to birds, frogs, minos and beetles.

Response from Ann:
Thank you, Jennifer. I'm so glad that you enjoyed your stay! Having the deck off the ground means virtually no mosquitos! Another reason we love GIrraween.

Ann is a fantastic host. Very responsive with communications and willing to go the extra mile to ensure your stay is perfect. Her home is very clean, very warm, inviting and perfect! She has thought of everything -- from the personalized Texas soaps to the book cases to the games and activities for the entire family. I figured by the second day, my kids would be having withdrawals from no internet access, but boy was I wrong! They spent a lot of time on the porch looking out and enjoying nature (snakes, deer, birds, cattle and more!) and then spent some time playing board games together. We were looking for a quiet time away from the hustle and bustle of the big city and Girraween was the perfect spot for our family. Everything is exactly as Ann describes it, only better! She gave us tons of ideas of things to do on our trip and our kids enjoyed it all. Don't hesitate, book your reservation now. You won't regret it.

Ann is a speech pathologist who works with children and adults who have communication disorders. She and her husband David (biologist), love spending time in the Texas Hill Country. They bought Girraween in the 1990s to assure that their children had a place to roam and discover nature. Ann's life motto is: Don't Postpone Joy! We love sharing Girraween with people who want to get away and enjoy nature.
