Built pre Civil War (1854) it features SOARING wooden ceilings, AUTHENTIC 1854 steel beams, MAGESTIC 26" thick granite walls, ANTIQUE birds eye maple floors, and large open and light spaces..perched on the banks of the Neuse River in the middle of acres of wooded trails, lakes and bike paths..

The space

This is an architectural gem, a National Historic Register property that was gutted 10 years ago and rebuilt to imitate a New York Soho loft apartment. It is an open, cheerful and inviting studio/living space with large easily manipulated windows to catch the cross breezes off the river, a great space for an artist to paint, a writer to compose, a yogi to meditate. The kitchen features handbuilt maple cabinets, custom granite counters, under the counter stainless subzero fridge with an additional freezer and undercounter refrigerator supplementing it, electric range, disposal and well appointed with utensils and cooking supplies.

The bedroom features a very comfortable queen bed with box springs and luxury linens, a full tile bathroom with glass door shower, and good lighting.
The living area is open with Henredon sofas and chairs, flat screen TV, and high speed internet.

Within a few miles (1 1/2 ) there are stores, cinemas, shops, restaurants, gyms, and all the large box stores,,,some even walkable! The newly constructed Falls of the Neuse Road makes travel in all directions easy...Just 3 miles to major interstate junction of 540, and short distance to the Durham Road 98 which takes you to the heart of Durham in 30minutes. The town of Wake Forest is quaint with coffee shops, antique shops, Farmers Market, and a fabulous independent bookstore.

You can throw your kayak in the river on the property and kayak down the Neuse to several take out stations..You can bike on the Neuse River Greenway for 30 miles to Clayton. Falls Lake is a ten minute walk on a path from the property, not even crossing a road (going on a path under the river's bridge) to find a fishing pier, a visitor center and kayak launch and miles of gorgeous trails along the lake.

Guest access

Guests will have full access to grounds and all the trails and paths linking the property to other parklands. Sitting at the river bank, grilling and picnicing at the Gazebo, wading in the river and kayaking out your door...

Guests will have access to the laundry room on the same floor as the unit...washer and dryer and ironing board available...

Interaction with guests

Owner lives on the premises but much of the time she is traveling. She has a home in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico in the winter.

I stayed in Robbin's loft for a month with my boyfriend while we were looking for an apartment in the area and it was perfect for us. I would highly recommend it. It was so peaceful being along the creek and I loved having the greenway right across the street. Robbin was a great host!

We stayed at Robbin's studio when moving to the Raleigh area. The community at River Mill is great -friendly neighbors and beautiful surroundings. My husband and I lived here for several months and were comfortable in the studio. The space has a well-equipped kitchen and comfortable bed. It's a gorgeous place and looks just like the photos. Awesome hiking and walking, as well as plenty of grocery stores and restaurants nearby. Robbin is very sweet and accommodating and takes good care of the property. Great for anyone in the process of relocating and just needing a relaxing night away.

I had such a great time at Robbin's loft. The place is beautifully decorated, one of the most striking apartment I've rented on Airbnb. It's comfortable, quiet, and ideally situated near the peaceful Neuse river -- my dog loved playing in the water every morning. It's only a short walk to a dam, lake, and multiple hikes in the woods. Driving to Raleigh or Durham isn't difficult either. The place was immaculate when I arrived, and Robbin was the *perfect* host throughout -- she even replaced the single bed with a much more comfy queen bed more suited to my size. Very highly recommended.

Robbin is terrific and very welcoming host. The historic River Mill is such a beautiful building and though just minutes from shopping and restaurants, it feels quite secluded and peaceful. Everyone we met was extremely friendly!

Robbin is the perfect host. She met me at the door when I arrived, showed me the place, gave me a stack of local maps, brochures for local restaurants and attractions (like great nature trails that are right next to the house), and tips on local supermarkets and the like. Then throughout my stay would check in on me to make sure all was well, gave me more recommendations on where to go during the weekends in North Carolina, and even made me pour over coffee one morning. The apartment itself is beautiful and has everything you need. I stayed for 3 months and never wanted for anything extra.

The loft is spacious and nicely decorated. The location is super convenient, being close to beautiful trails and a short drive away from grocery stores, malls and downtown Raleigh and Wake Forest. The surroundings are the strongest advantage of the loft, which is located in a very green area and has direct access to the river + very nice and friendly neighbors. Robbin was very quick in responding all our messages, always very friendly and helpful. We would definitely recommend her as a host!
