About this listing
1 Bedroom + Sofa Sleeper + Air Mattress, 1.5 Baths (Sleeps 4)
Historic home, in a quiet tree-lined neighborhood, 2 blocks from the heart of the action!
Elegant 1 bedroom, 1½ bathroom on the 2nd floor of a classic DC townhouse. Located in one of the most upscale sections of the city - the west side of DuPont Circle, in Kalorama - the safest neighborhood in DC. President Obama lives just around the corner!
The property is exceptionally large - 1000 square feet of indoor living space - featuring high ceilings, tall windows and original French doors. Enhancing those quarters are two Juliet balconies: just off the kitchen for dining alfresco, and next to the bedroom for morning coffee and conversation outdoors.
The spiral staircase leads to a master retreat that is tucked away from the rest of the home. The bedroom is nicely sized and comfortably appointed, the organic mattress is topped with freshly laundered linens, cleaned just prior to your arrival. Complementing the space is a full bathroom, sunroom alcove and balcony. If traveling with couples, the sofa sleeper and half bath on the main level expands the sleeping quarters.
The kitchen is fully equipped, and if you're into organics, included is a juicer and a Vitamix. Please feel free to use our spices for your cooking needs; groceries can be purchased just down the way at the corner market.
You are a short walk to hundreds of cafes and restaurants in DuPont and Georgetown, and in walking distance of the Capitol, White House, Smithsonian, Washington Monument and the zoo.
The DuPont Metro Station is just a few blocks away and cabs are abundant in the area.
If you are bringing a vehicle, there are two options that can be added to your quote: driveway parking can be made available for up to 2 vehicles, and any number of street parking permits can also be arranged.
What you can expect: It is my aim to provide guests five-star amenities. The same touches that I appreciate when I travel: lodging located in a gorgeous neighborhood, cleanliness, quality linens and towels, comfortable mattresses and high speed internet.
Please Note: I book on a first-come basis and the furnishings are constantly evolving!

Here's what Kathy from Ottawa had to say about her stay:
Excellent choice! This was a perfect choice for my recent three night stay in DC. The apartment was just as described in the listing - very clean, bright, safe and relaxed. It had all the amenities I required to make it an enjoyable stay including a comfortable bed, well equipped kitchen and a great WiFi connection. It was a fantastic location – within walking distance of major attractions but close to the Dupont Circle metro station if you prefer public transit. There is a good selection of restaurants, cafes and groceries in the area. Parking (with a permit) was available immediately across the street from the apartment and I never had to move my vehicle during my visit. I was most impressed with the responsiveness of the host who was accommodating and genuinely interested in ensuring a positive experience. She provided very clear, timely and detailed information and was always professional. I would definitely consider staying here again the next time I am in the area.
Washington, DC Rental Agreement
First, please allow me to apologize for the tone of this Rental Agreement and Cancellation Policy, as it is much harsher than I want to be toward my guests, most of whom are BEYOND fabulous!
That said, every year or so, we do get that one dishonorable person, no matter how well I've vetted them. Still, I am so sorry for catching you up in that situation.
I accept reservation requests from guests who are serene by nature: people who are looking for a quiet, peaceful retreat in the urban core and will respect our neighbors.
If you decide to stay, there are conditions of the rental that you'll want to be comfortable with:
a. No parties: Although our home is private, it is one unit in a multi-unit townhome and I must maintain a calm, quiet atmosphere for my neighbors. Please know there can be no parties (including dinner parties with guests who are not lodgers), receptions, loud music/TV, and that quiet hours are in effect from 11pm-9am. Of course, normal family noises are to be expected;
b. Liability: Our home is privately owned. The host and owner are not responsible for any accidents, injuries, or illnesses that occur while on the premises, nor are they responsible for the loss of personal belongings or valuables of guests;
c. The EXACT address of the property is forthcoming in my confirmation email; that address supersedes all others;
d. Access: Sometimes we may need to come by to retrieve clothing, put up linens, or to allow workers in to maintain the property. Of course, you would be notified first. We try to schedule access for when guests are not present, but sometimes that is not always possible. I will contact you if I need to get inside. However, if we need immediate access and you are not reachable, we will let ourselves in;
e. Should anyone question you for being an unfamiliar face on the property, please say that you are our guest. To date, there has never been a problem;
f. Please do not ask our neighbors for assistance of any kind. They live in the building, so naturally, they are watchful. However, if you keep to yourselves and follow the conditions of the rental, all will be well;
g. We adore children (I'm a former midwife). However, if your child is crying in the middle of the night, please do not allow them to "cry it out.” Prolonged crying is not considered normal family noises;
Unfortunately, not abiding the conditions is cause for immediate removal, with no monies refunded.
Again, please forgive the tone of this missive!

My husband and I prefer quiet homes in residential neighborhoods when we travel, and offer ours to like-minded people whenever we're away.
It is my aim to provide guests a five-star experience. Touches that I appreciate when I travel: a terrific neighborhood, cleanliness, upscale linens and towels, comfortable bedding, wireless Internet and eclectic decor.
My hobbies include: Surrounding myself with beauty, preparing nutritious but delicious meals, collecting old tablecloths, staying vibrantly healthy, keeping spiritually alive, learning about natural medicine, listening to the Grateful Dead and other blues music, traveling, reading, writing, being next to the mountains and the ocean, chatting with family and annoying them with practical jokes, dreaming big dreams and being a great mom.
