A spacious, modern, self-contained and fully outfitted studio apartment in the popular picturesque Forest of Dean village of Blaisdon. Five minute walk to an iconic Gloucestershire pub and a ten minute drive from the Forest of Dean itself. The property is quiet and peaceful with gardens which straddle the Longhope Brook flowing through the property. Several interesting foot bridges cross the brook from which you can view the gardens and the many wild birds that feed along the stream.

The space
For your safety this property is fully cleaned and sanitized before and after each rental in accordance with AirBnB five step Coronavirus guidelines.

The Loft is a studio flat suitable for a couple on a romantic getaway, or as a peaceful retreat for those on an active holiday enjoying the many outdoor offerings of the Forest of Dean. The flat is fitted with a large comfortable king sized oak bed with modern duvets and cotton sheets. The living area has a large picture window which overlooks the pretty Longhope brook and provides an opportunity to sit restfully and admire the rooftops of Blaisdon village as you look up the valley. The galley kitchen is fully fitted with a modern oven, refrigerator, and double burner induction hob.

The flat is also fitted with its own high speed WiFi internet provided by Gigaclear and in addition the HD smart Samsung tv is licenced to watch Netflix. There is also an Amazon Alexa smart speaker with Spotify at your command.

The dining table extends to seat four, and we provide four place settings, so it would be quite reasonable for you to be fully self catered, and entertain a second couple for dinner if you wished. Or you can take a stroll through the village to enjoy the lovely Red Hart pub which is famous in the area and a popular destination for both locals and visitors. You are also welcome to walk through our beautiful gardens which surround the property as well as enjoying the many public footpaths which surround Blaisdon and the Longhope valley.

If you wish we can supply an inflatable mattress which would be suitable for a third person . We do not have a cot and the flat is not really suitable for small infants.

This is a lovely studio flat in a great location, which we know you will enjoy. Please contact us if you have any questions or need more details.

Guest access
The guest cottage shares the gardens, of about an acre, with the main house where we, your hosts Mike and Kristi, live. The guest cottage is on the south side of Longhope brook, which flows through the garden with the main house on the north side. Guests have access to all the gardens on their side of the brook, which also contains the parking area and a recently-expanded driveway with room for two guest vehicles.

The cottage itself has two stories. The top story is the studio loft. Guests have full access to the flat which has its own private facilities that are not shared with anyone else. The bottom floor is a carpentry workshop used by Mike for his part-time business of making wooden harps. The workshop has a separate door to which, for safety reasons, Guests do not have access. Mike only uses the workshop for limited hours between 10am and 4pm while guests are usually out, so there is no need to worry about noise.

Please note that at this time the property is not easily accessible by wheelchairs as the main access to the living space is up a staircase with a turn.

Other things to note
There is a small waterway running through the property. This is the lovely Longhope Brook, which is a very pretty feature of the property and is attractive and accessible. Normally the brook is only about 6 inches deep and is allowed for children 5+ to paddle and play provided that they have full parent supervision. However during occasional extreme rainstorms the brook can get quite deep and fast flowing and needs to be treated with caution if you have younger children with you during severe weather.

We have expanded our driveway to allow guests to park two cars on the property. If you are expecting friends or family to stop in to see you while staying here, please let us know so that we can advise on parking for their vehicles.

Returning guests will be delighted to hear that we have just added pathways through the garden to connect the driveway to the cottage and house. We expect to be working in the garden throughout the spring and summer to add lots of new flowering plants and shrubs. So, you may see us out and about working in the garden at times.

IMPORTANT NOTE for visitors in JUNE:
We have scheduled landscape contractors to add a patio next to the brook during June and possibly into the first week of July. We do not expect that this will cause disruption to guests, however, there may be occasional light noise between 10am and 3pm on weekdays. Please contact us for more information as necessary.

Blaisdon is a popular village in the Forest of Dean area. It comprises a number of historic properties built along Blaisdon Lane. At the center of the village is a lovely, award-winning pub, the Red Hart, which is well known in the area for good food but with a local atmosphere.

The village is on the edge of the Severn valley with a multitude of footpaths through the fields on the valley floor and up the hillsides into the forest.

The Forest of Dean is a 10 minute drive from us and provides a multitude of outdoor activities including hiking, cycling, wildlife, and horseback riding., and we have a local Go Ape centre for those who love extra adventure. The stunning Wye Valley and the south wales border are only 10 miles away through the forest and provide opportunities for canoeing, watersports and hill walking. If you plan to take a tour through Clearwell Caves or the Hopewell Colliery mine, be sure to bring a warm jacket and hat even in the summer.
