Homely cottage located within a 10 minute drive of a prestigious stretch of the beautiful north Cornish coast and historic fishing harbour of Padstow. Whether you enjoy relaxing on a beach, surfing, coastal walks, historical places of interest or eating out - there is no shortage of things to do. The vibrant village of St Merryn is approximately a mile away which includes two great pubs and award winning fish and chips.

Harlyn Cottage is in a fantastic location to explore the rest of Cornwall.

The space
Our property is a light, open plan cottage with distant sea views from the lounge/dining area and front bedroom. The lounge/dining area is a spacious area where your family/group can spend quality time together. There is a large breakfast bar (suitable for meals, playing games or watching the smart TV) which divides the lounge from the well equipped kitchen. Please note there is a larder fridge (with a small freezer box) provided. Laundry facilities are available at nearby Atlantic Bays Resort.

Each bedroom contains a wardrobe and chest of drawers to store your belongings. There are convector heaters in each room and reading lights provided for your convenience. Dogs are welcome (maximum of 2).

There is an open garden to the front of the property with a rotary washing line and a patio from which to enjoy the countryside and coastal views, your morning coffee or an evening glass of wine. You are welcome to bbq out here - we do have an ample supply of utensils but sorry, you will need to provide your own bbq.

There is a dedicated parking bay for Harlyn with additional space if required. Access to Harlyn is via a keypad (code supplied prior to arrival) and then you are requested to use the key inside Harlyn during your stay.

Where you’ll be

Cornwall, England, United Kingdom

The cottage is located at the end of a private road adjacent to a dairy farm and near a small quiet caravan site. There is a family/dog friendly pub within a 10 minute walk that serves food, shows sport and has live music.

St Merryn village includes a garage, bakery (serving delicious pasties), restaurant and takeaway, award winning fish and chips, convenience store, surf shop and a news agent. It also has two traditional local pubs (family and dog friendly) - the Farmers Arms and the Cornish Arms which includes a restaurant owned by Rick Stein, one of his more reasonably priced restaurants!

With "seven bays for seven days" there is no shortage of picturesque beaches to choose from locally. Our personal favourite being Treyarnon Bay with its famous rock pool(s) followed by a visit to the youth hostel cafe on top of the beach with its glorious sea views, to enjoy a cream tea or pint of cider! This could also be the start or end of a coastal path walk around the Trevose Head peninsula. It has spectacular views and great beaches, keep an eye out for the birds of prey and seals which are frequently spotted on this family friendly walk.

Padstow harbour, otherwise known as "Padstein", is located 4 miles from the cottage. A lively harbour with bars and restaurants some of which are owned by Rick Stein and Paul Ainsworth. Wander the narrow streets and enjoy its rich maritime history or visit Prideaux Place with its deer park. The Camel trail starts in Padstow and runs to Bodmin via Wadebridge. It is popular amongst cyclists and walkers offering views of the Camel estuary and countryside of Cornwall.

The Eden Project is 12 miles from our cottage.

The surfing town of Newquay is 11 miles away which offers a variety of attractions for all, including a zoo and aquarium. Beautiful St. Ives is less than an hour away and is a recommended day trip!
