A bright and cheerful bungalow set amongst orchards and gardens. Near town, the bungalow has a full kitchen and bathroom as well as a sleeping area. The large yard is full of songbirds and is a great place to picnic, BBQ, or just laze the day away.

The space
A bright and cheerful little place. Our bungalow was recently renovated and it's a great place to spend a few days. The bungalow is set up as a studio with one great room that shares the kitchen, the dining space, and the sleeping area. The sleeping area has a queen bed and a comfy sofa-couch that is a twin. There is a full bathroom adjacent to the great room. In addition, there is a closet and a large loft to store your things. Outside you will find a covered entry way as well as a small shed roof-protected area on the side of the bungalow to store bikes, surfboards, or whatever.

Sunnybrae, our neighborhood in Arcata, is a fantastic place. We are a five-minute walk to restaurants, coffee shops, and grocery stores in the neighborhood and a 20-minute walk to downtown Arcata. Of course, biking or driving to these places only takes a few minutes! Humboldt State University is just up the hill from here as well, only a few minutes away. The trailhead to the hiking and biking trails of the Sunnybrae Redwood Forest are a 5-minute walk from our front door. Into bird-watching? The Arcata Marsh bird-watching area is a 5-minute drive from the house. The Pacific Ocean is less than a 10-minute drive from the house and there are dozens of public access points to enjoy the beach from.

Co-founder of Caribbean-based non-profit, Environmental Protection in the Caribbean (EPIC). My wife, Natalia (the other Co-Founder), and two young children, Cadence and Ella spend part of the year living in Arcata and part of the year living in the Caribbean. We love both places so much we just couldn't choose which one to live in, so we live in both!

Living in Arcata is truly magical. Its the land of huge trees, green mountains, and the blue ocean. Our family takes advantage of all of by going backpacking, surfing, fishing, climbing, and mountain biking. The community itself is fantastic and we are so fortunate to be surrounded by such great people.

Our rental is in the backyard of our property. If we are home, we love to chat with visitors of the studio. We are more than happy to point out great places to have a cup of coffee and a warm croissant or a secluded beach to take a walk and enjoy the ocean air. We look forward to providing to you a great home base as you enjoy all the treasures of the Redwood Coast.

During your stay

We live in the other house on the property and are there on and off all year. We love to travel and go backpacking and are often off doing those things. When at the property, we typically welcome the guests to the house and are available to answer questions throughout the guest's stay. We often are working or playing on the property and usually interact with our guests during those less formal times.
