About this listing
66 five star reviews on TripAdvisor. Red squirrels & woodpeckers visit this balcony while you relax in comfort in a warm spacious lodge with a beautiful view over a loch surrounded by birch woods. Close to Nairn's shops, beaches and dolphins.
Please contact us for discounts or short stays if the lodge is available in the next three weeks. We only book Saturday to Saturday more than 3 weeks ahead. We close from mid November to mid February. The only extra is electricity charged at 15p/kWh by meter reading. We do not have a cleaning charge.
The lodge is your private home for the week. Entry is through a utility room with both washing machine and tumble drier. This opens into the spacious south facing living room enhanced by pine paneling and a raised ceiling with access to the south facing balcony. It is furnished with soft chairs, dining table, TV/DVD and a selection of books and children's toys. The kitchen is set off the living room and has a gas cooker, microwave, fridge and all the utensils you will need.
A central hall leads to the other rooms. The double room with king-size bed has an ensuite shower, toilet and wash basin. All the beds have duvets. The twin room and bunkroom (with full size bunks) are served by the bathroom which is suitable for wheelchair use. Kestrel's Nest has a mobile hoist and is fur and feather free. Car parking is adjacent to each lodge and there is a children's play area nearby with a large trampoline sunk into the ground. All our accommodation is no smoking inside.
Interaction with guests
We will be here to welcome you when you arrive on the croft and share our local knowledge when we know your interests.
The Moray Firth coast has a warm and sunny microclimate with one third of the rain that falls on the west coast, and few midges. Nairn has a similar rainfall to Paris. The countryside is not densely populated and has plenty of beaches, wild land, forests and rivers. We feel that we live in "The Garden of Eden".
No smoking inside. We have one lodge and a caravan suitable for pets. We cannot take pets every week so ask first about the week that you are interested in. We do not accept pets from outside the UK, large or dangerous breeds of dog.
Please respect the tranquillity of the area and leave the lodge clean and tidy. There is no cleaning charge!
We live on a Highland croft with cows, sheep and hens which we farm organically. Our interests are gardening, cooking our own produce, walking, Scottish country dancing, eco-building, the environment ... and people. Our self catering accommodation is on the croft and we like to have it spotlessly clean for arriving guests.
