I didn't really meet the host much, but I understand that he's busy. Everyone has things to do. Tracy, the housekeeper was nice. She let me do my laundry for 2 dollars a washload. While Paterson itself might not be the safest city, the eastside park neighborhood was nice. I would go for jogs at the park and everyone would say "hello" or "good morning." I have a thing for old victorian homes and Maxim's place was nice along and nicely decorated. Just be aware that this room is 6 feet tall at its tallest point and the ceiling angles downward to about 3 feet. Try not to stay in this particular room during a heat wave. Other than that, I would stay here again if I needed to.

I truly enjoyed my stay in this beautiful house. I had the whole floor to myself and the kitchen nook was an added bonus. I would definitely recommend staying here. Thanks for your welcoming hospitality Maxim and Tracy!

The family was kind and welcoming. The house is old, historic, and cool. It's much bigger than it looks. Tracy was very helpful whenever I had any problems. The height of the ceiling was really not bad, I'm 5'10 and didn't have many problems. You kind of get used to it. The one thing that surprised me was how dangerous of an area Paterson is, especially towards the downtown part of it (4-5 streets away). I really enjoyed swimming in the pool and hanging out in the backyard. If you're here for a while and are active this is a huge plus. There are a few other people either staying there or living there and they are nice to talk to.

Response from Maxim:
The are is not dangerous at all. Alex is referring to a primarily mixed Arab/Latino/African American neighborhood after Eastside Park - but not dangerous.

Maxim was a gracious host from start to finish. He is very warm and welcoming and rented us another room last minute when our friend needed a place to stay since the weather got really bad during dinner. I adored this house and its exceptional charm. Next time I am in the area, at another conference, I plan to stay with Maxim again.

Maxim and Tracy were very hospitable and accomodating hosts. My attic room was very comfortable for me. I have the great blessing of being about 5'1 and 1/2 inches. The ceilings might be difficult for anyone taller than 5'7". The bathroom comes equipped with jacuzzi shower tub with a shower head and two other shower heads. I had access to store some food in the fridge in the upstairs area. The house has other bedrooms with other tenants, all of who are very nice too. I had some chances to chat and talk with Maxim, Tracy, and the other tenants too. They have the most adorable and fiesty little miniature pinscher named, Moses and a gentle, quiet poodle named, Louie living in the kitchen downstairs. The neighborhood is really quiet. The Eastside Park area has these mansions that wonderful to behold too. I chose to live here since it's so close to St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center in Paterson, which is about 8 mins away on the freeway and the fact the neighborhood is so quiet and safe. Overall, I had the ideal stay with great hosts, quiet and safe neighborhood, and close proximity to the place I was currently working. I really did like coming back after my long 12 hour shifts which were sometimes overnight.
