Neighbourhood highlights

Layer de la Haye, is an old village dated back to Saxon times, with the Abberton Resovoir on our doorstep and Needle Woods out the back gate, there are plenty of interesting walks and bike rides, which can be as short or as long as you want. Take a ten minute walk in the woods or a ten mile hike/bike ride around the reservoir, taking in a local pub en-route.

There are two friendly village pubs both serving excellent food, locally sourced and prepared in house. Along with a local village shop and a farm shop, all within walking distance.

Head out past the reservoir down the country roads towards the many little villages local pubs and thatched roofs cottages of the Eesex countryside.

Mersae Island is a ten minute drive with its many pretty beach huts, fresh fish restaurants and every water sport from paddle boarding, to sailing.

Colchester town centre is 4 miles East, with its many bars and restaurants, theatre, nightlife and shopping.

Or if you fancied some designer retail therapy, Braintree Freeport is a 30 minutes drive, with the Coggeshall Vineyard a lovely mid way place to stop for a spot of lunch in between.

Bannatyne spa, is quite literally down the road, for relaxing and pampering. With Colchester zoo so close, you can often hear the lion roar.

We are also able to offer more personal experiences such as massages, guided walks, falconry, yoga, reflexology and much more.
