This is a detached studio guesthouse that is approximately 280 sq. ft in size. It shares a porch with our main house but it has good privacy. It has a very comfortable queen size bed with high thread-count linens. The place is decorated minimally and tastefully and has great views. It also comes with a parking space.

The space

Our place is 1.5 miles west of I-10 and sits near the apex of a hill. We have great views of the Santa Catalina mountain range and the city lights from our back patio. The space is modest yet comfortable. It's decorated with custom-built furniture. It has good privacy. It will comfortably sleep 2 and if a 3rd will be staying then we have a Big Agnes backpacking air mattress (3" thick). There will be an additional $20 charge per night for a 3rd guest.

Guest access

Our place is just steps away from a large swath of the Sonoran desert. The area is hilly so there are great views in every direction. Situated on the western edge of Tucson, it is close to Saguaro National Monument and the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum. Nearby Tumamoc Hill, is a great, but very steep, 1.5mi walk to the top that offers a great workout and sweeping 360 degree views.

Interaction with guests

Vonnie and I both work so the amount interaction will vary depending on our work schedules at that particular time. We enjoy engaging our guests and will often share a drink with them but we also get that our guests aren't coming to Tucson to see us so our feelings aren't hurt if they decline socializing. Our Pit Beagle Lula really loves meeting our guests.

Other things to note

The place has a refrigerator, a toaster oven, a microwave oven and a coffee maker with a hot water tap. There is also a French Press. It should be noted that it does NOT have a conventional oven or stovetop so it is not a great space for guests who want to cook. Our pool is not heated so it is only really usable from Late March to November.

House Rules
No smoking
No parties or events
Check in time is flexible

Our space is non-smoking but smoking is allowed on the patio. We want to know a little bit about our guests prior to approving them so if a guest doesn't have a fleshed-out profile or doesn't tell us a little about themselves upon their introduction, we will be less inclined to approve them. Non-AB&B guests are not permitted without prior approval. We turn in early and rise early. Our neighborhood is quiet so we don't allow parties....... unless we are hosting. : ) Then, anything goes.

Our stay with Richard and Vonnie was wonderful. The guesthouse was very comfortable and Richard and Vonnie made sure we had everything we needed. We came to Tuscon on one of the hottest weeks of the summer, and we arrived to find cold beer in the fridge and the pool to be extremely refreshing. On Friday night they invited us into their home for a happy hour with friends. It was a great experience, and we will definitely be staying with them again on trips through Tuscon.

This place is an absolute gem. Located so close to nature trails and only minutes from the city. My husband and I really enjoyed our stay and then some. Richard and Vonnie were welcoming, friendly and so helpful. The room was super clean and very nicely decorated. We really appreciated the little details, like refrigerated pint glasses for an ice cold brew by the pool. The pool was the icing on the cake. We happened to arrive during record breaking temps so it was so refreshing to take a dip. The air conditioner really cooled down the room and we slept so well. The sheets really are super soft and the bed was comfy. I was also very grateful for the strong Wifi so I could quickly knock out some work requests without skipping a beat. We will definitely try to book this place again on our return trips to Tucson.

Richard and Vonnie's place was simply stellar. We had an excellent time staying with them for a few days. The location was perfect to hit the city for drinks and dining or the mountains for a hike. The space itself is peaceful and lovely. Richard and Vonnie were gracious hosts that even provided delicious prickly pear margaritas for us when we arrived. Richard also threw in a bottle of his very own bottled margarita mix (Dick's Mix) to take home. Check it out online. Thanks Richard! We'll definitely stay with them when we come back through Tucson.

Excellent place! Super clean and it was a really unique experience! The place felt very private if I needed some down time and social at the same time because Richard and Vonnie are awesome people! Loved the view, the decor and the pool was pretty amazing as well! It does not get any better than this! A+

We had a great time in while Tucson and staying with Richard and Vonnie's place. Both Richard and Vonnie were there to great us when we arrived, and gave us a detailed tour and description on all the amenities. It was especially nice to see how much attention to detail they put into making sure we felt comfortable and accommodated. The location is a quick drive to U of A, hiking, downtown attractions, and multiple golf courses. They live in a quiet neighborhood which for us was perfect after long days of hiking . As a runner it was nice to be able to run up and down Tumamoc trail head, which is located a mile away. We really enjoyed our stay here, even out little dog lulu loved basking in the sun near the pool.

Richard & Vonnie truly made us feel part of the family. We really appreciated their sincerity and warmth. They met us when we arrived and checked with us frequently to make sure we had everything we needed. The kitchen had all the basics and was clean and well organized. This will most definitely be our first choice if we find our way back to Tuscon.

This was the BEST! It was our first airbnb experience and Richard and Vonnie made it so great. The place was impeccable and the views were spectacular. They provide awesome amenities and the place is amazingly decorated. It was the perfect size for us and our dog. Richard and Vonnie let our dog play with their dog Lula (who is super sweet) and helped us by letting our dog out while we were out at the caverns. The location was ideal - very close to downtown which is where we spent most of our time - it is a $6 - $7 Uber, very quick if you're going out for the night. We really enjoyed our hosts and our stay, and would gladly stay here again. Thank you Richard and Vonnie!

I'm a bartender-turned-RN who works on a cardiac unit at a nearby hospital. I also produce, bottle and market an upscale Margarita mix called Dick's Mix®. Vonnie is an aesthetician who owns her own business. We have no children. Just a sweet Pit Beagle named Lula and two Burmese kitties, Will & Cam. We enjoy good wine, interesting people and a love of the desert.
