Neighbourhood highlights

Aller is a village and parish in Somerset and steeped in ancient history - The Battle Of Sedgemoor; St Andrew's Church where it is believed Guthrum the Dane was christened; the Farm and The Dower House are situated on one of "the lost islands of Somerset" to name a few. The village has a population of 410. The parish includes the hamlet of Beer and the deserted medieval village of Oath on the opposite bank of the River Parrett.

Locally made Cider, and Smith and Evans Vineyard are all in the Parish offering locally brewed Cider, Wines, local cheeses and Vineyard tours. Basket making, willow weaving, tours and lessons are also available locally. The Dragon Pool is in the village and you should contact them direct for availability.

Bike and boat hire is available in Langport - 2.5 miles away.

There is plenty of opportunity for retail therapy - Clark's Village is a 15 minute drive, Taunton, Yeovil, Glastonbury, Sherborne & Wells are within a 30 minute drive, together with Bruton which hosts the acclaimed The Newt country estate with magnificent woodlands and gardens and Hawser and Worth.

The Jurassic Coast is within an hour.

Hi I am Emma. I am married to Andrew and we have two son's in their twenties. We all enjoy welcoming guests to The Dower House and meeting new people. The Dower House is situated on our working dairy farm. In the orchard, alongside the garden, you will find our call ducks and bantam hens, who are joined, on occasion, by some of our Greyfaced Dartmoor Sheep. They are all a joy to watch especially the lambs in the Spring. The Dairy herd graze in front of the house in the evenings and can be seen coming up and down the track for milking during the afternoon. Please do contact me if you have any questions, need a table or a taxi booking before you arrive, or if there is anything else we can do to help before you arrive. Regrettably, due to some of the features of the property and its situation we are unable to accept children under the age of 12. Infants by prior arrangement - please ask before booking. We look forward to meeting you.
