Large bedroom in a top floor 2-bedroom flat with lots of light, space and security. Centrally located near fashionable Brick Lane/Shoreditch, and 25 minutes from Oxford Circus, the flat offers everything a visitor seeks.

The space

A large, furnished, spacious bedroom is available in my 2 bedroom flat. I'm almost never here, so the flat is almost always all yours.
With wood floors, loads of light and amazing views of the City and Aldgate East, this apartment is a 5 minute walk from fashionable Brick Lane. The building is very secure, the bedroom for rent overlooks a large park, and the price includes wifi.
The fireplace offers a lovely chance for warm cuddles on a chilly evening, and the recently refurbished kitchen is well equipped and large enough to accommodate any sort of food preparation.
The home is very clean and quiet, and I'm constantly away with work. So it's perfect for someone who wants a bit of alone time, or for a couple with dream of a romantic stay in buzzy East London.
The flat is two tube stops, or a 25 minute walk, from the 2012 London Olympic Stadium, which was the most amazing athletic event of British history.
Buses 8 and 388 will whisk you right into town, and they both stop within minutes of my front door. The D3, to Canary Wharf, is even closer!
The best thing about the whole place, other than the fantastic views and peace, obviously, is the location. It's so quiet, overlooking a large, dynamite park called Weaver's Field; and is just a 7 minute walk from Bethnal Green Tube on the Central Line. Any Londoner will tell you, the Central Line is the key to the whole city, getting you anywhere in London, fast.

Holborn 20 minutes
Notting Hill 30 minutes
Camden 25 minutes
Dalston 15 minutes
Hackney 5 minutes
Bank 15 minutes
Borough Market 15 minutes
Islington 20 minutes
Brick Lane is a brief walk away.

You can walk into Shoreditch, the best place in the whole of London for trendy bars, shopping and restaurants, in 7 minutes.
London Fields, with its outdoor 50 metre swimming pool, is a 15 minute walk, and one of the funnest most refreshing spots to be in London during the summer. The quirky Broadway Market offers a great day out every Saturday with it's fine organic foods and vintage clothing stalls.
A few truly amazing restaurants really worth checking out right next to the flat are Viajante, Bistrotheque, Braun, Buen Ayre and Corner Room.
Victoria Park is simply a 15 minute walk and is spectacular in the summer. Around the park is also a haven of great gastro pubs and restaurants, amazing fresh fishmongers, grocers and butchers.

Thanks and enjoy!

Guest access

Guest will have access to the entire flat, except my bedroom. There is a large, lovely park directly across the street, easily accessible from sun up until sun down.

Interaction with guests

I usually don't interact with guests. For the vast majority of the year, I'm likely to be away. However my downstairs neighbour Mike is around to let you in, show you around and is on hand and very helpful if necessary.

Other things to note

All the kitchen appliances are up to date and the building and surrounding area is, again, very quiet.

The proximity to Bricklane and Shortditch is nice but its a bit of a walk from either tube station, Bethnal Green or Whitechapel. Neither is very inviting after dark. The apartment is perfectly adequate, however the three pages worth of instructions of things not to do, or touch, were a little much, therefore didn't feel inviting.

Response from Edson:
Hey there, glad the apartment is adequate. We've just had a refresh, painting, new drapes, new bedding, etc. Thanks for your approval. Regarding the tube stops not being inviting, they're positioned clearly no the map Airbnb provides, and their distance is only about 7 minutes from the front door, giving rather quick access to Oxford Street in about 25 minutes. As for the remark about the tube stops themselves not being 'inviting', I'm hoping that's not a racial slur. My neighbourhood is a proud mix, quite fashionable and in 11 years living here, I've never had a problem. Take good care, Ed

I stayed in this flat for 3wks on business. The flat itself is very clean and well decorated. Most of the essentials are already there. It was perfect for me because I could walk to the office by Liverpool Street station which mad for a fun walk through Brick Lane and Shoreditch every day - great, lively neighborhood. There's also a park right next door which is nice for sunny days or morning runs. Only think to be weary of is the 4th floor walk up. The building itself is definitely older and a bit rundown (common for East London) but it seemed generally safe.

Response from Edson:
Hey Lauren, thanks for your stay. The building was built in 1950, so not old by UK standards. Also, it's very solidly built, without any lingering war damage, which is one of the reasons I purchased the flat. Not sure run down buildings are common in East London, it's actually one of the wealthiest areas in all the UK. After all the queen's jewels are in walking distance from our front door! Glad you felt safe, and maybe a bit more time spent in the neighbourhood will clear up some of your misunderstandings of London. Take care, Ed x

Our stay at Edson's apartment was absolutely lovely! The apartment was very clean and stylish. The Central line tube is a convenient ten minute walk (easy access to the center of London), and the good food market of Brick Lane is about a five minute walk. As two young women in a big city, we felt safe in the apartment and in the area. I would absolutely suggest booking a stay in his apartment!

Ed the host was lovely and most helpful. He organised a hairdryer for me as there wasn't one available. The apartment is lovely once inside. Very quiet and an extremely comfortable bed. My only criticism is that technically it's not a penthouse. It's a top floor apartment that looks over a park. Semantics aside, it's a short and easy walk to all the action of Brick Lane and reasonably close to the tube.

Response from Edson:
Hey Suzanne, glad you enjoyed the flat. We like it too. As for the definition of 'penthouse', I was merely going by the Merriam-Webster description: A structure or dwelling on the roof or top floor of a building We are on the top floor, and have no foot traffic past our door, other than those visiting our flat. The park views are quite nice as well. Take care and do visit again! Ed xxx

Edson's place was lovely, perfect for a stay on the East End - convenient to Shoreditch, Spitalfields, Brick Lane, etc, with all the accoutrements that one needs. He's a great host, with a clear set of instructions for everything in the apartment, and available to answer any questions.

I stayed in Ed and Scott's flat for about 5 weeks this summer while I was working in London. The guys communication was fantastic, quick to reply to questions and very friendly. The flat was exactly like the pictures and very clean. Bed was comfortable and they left me with extra bedding which was great for such a long stay. The location of this place is outstanding! Its a few minutes walk to brick lane, 4 mins to an overground which gets you places really quickly and 10mins away from a Bethnal Green Tube which is on the Central line. The park is cute too which is just across the road. But I'd have to say the very best thing about this flat is its views! I felt very lucky to stay there. Could not recommend it more. Thanks guys for providing me with an excellent place to stay while in London.
