There is a sense of discovery here as you unearth the evidence of a rich history, all the while experiencing daily life in this mountain village. Here you'll notice some intricately carved Newari windows; there you'll hear the clacking of looms. If you're lucky, one will be the mist that often carpets the Madi Valley in the morning, locally known as the 'White Lake'. Just be sure to bring your walking shoes: the steep streets will provide all the exercise you need.

The space
The view at the morning we can see from our terrance is beautiful.
The white lake of Madi and the clouds over the village of Madi is the heart of our Homestay.

Palpa District is not far from Pokhara and easily reached by bus. The ancient hill town of Tansen in this district offers a more tranquil atmosphere where time moves slowly and the laid back lifestyle is infectious. Walk down the cobbled streets in the old bazaar to discover a way of life quite different from modern Pokhara's Lakeside. Explore the Shreenagar Hills or go for a day hike to the Rani Mahal, once a vibrant palace on the banks of the Kali Gandaki River.

Guest access
Tansen can be visited at any time of the year with temperatures ranging from a maximum of 28 degrees Celsius in summer to a minimum of 8 degrees Celsius in winter. The region gets its fair share of the monsoon rain during the months of June and July.

There are regular buses from Kathmandu to Tansen - 296 km from Kathmandu via Butwal and about 324 km from Kathmandu via Pokhara. You can take a scheduled flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara or Bhairahawa and then drive to Tansen. Tansen is conveniently near Lumbini, the birthplace of Lord Buddha, and the ever popular tourist hangout of Pokhara. It is about 3-4 hours drive from either of these cities.

Other things to note
The main attractions of the district are Ranimahal (Ranighat), Srinagar Danda, Vairabsthan temple, Palpa Durbar, Ridi. Srinagar Danda is a 1600m (Tansen) high hill just north of Tansen, the headquarter of this district. A magnificent view is seen from the tower over the Kali Gandaki River of the Himalayas. The dense pine forest is the southern slope and natural vegetation with the national flower ‘Rohodendron’ in the northern slope is popular for naturalist.

Similarly, Bhairavthan, the largest ‘Trishul’ – a symbol of Lord Shiva is also the next attraction mainly for the Hindus.

Palpa is famous for various kinds of handicrafts and cottage industries. Furthermore, one of which is a typical water jug, Karuwa of bronze. People visiting Palpa are always eager to buy it as a souvenir. Similarly, People Dhaka is quite famous one of the main item of which is Dhaka topic which is popular nationally and internationally. Other, Dhaka products are shawls, purse, etc.
