Interaction with guests
We are respectful of your privacy, but we do live on the property -- and are available for any questions you may have during your stay. We love to chat and share our secrets about the best off-the-beaten-track haunts around the neighborhood.
The Lavaca Historic District itself is San Antonio's oldest registered historic neighborhood. According to the Office of Historic Preservation, it's "earliest settlers were carpenters, stonemasons, shopkeepers, clerks, tailors, bartenders, teamsters, and butchers; mostly of Germanic heritage, but also included those of Polish, Hispanic, and African American descent."
This neighborhood has maintained its cultural diversity, and is still home to many artists, architects, medical professionals, academics, stay-at-home parents, restaurateurs, sommeliers, small-business owners, etc.
The community is a wonderful place to live, and its residents embrace each other and socialize with fun gatherings of family and friends, and are always there when you need a hand.
Walk to the dog & kid-friendly "Friendly Spot," or "B & D Icehouse" for a craft beer and some excellent BBQ. We are also around the corner from Bite, Taco Haven, Bliss, and The Monterey for starters. A short walk will take you to our other favorites -- Stella Public House (incredible Naples-style pizza and craft beers), Halcyon Coffee House, Feast (excellent Sunday brunch, too), Beethoven (German Bier Garten), Tito's, Mad Hatter's, and Hot Joy.
The Pearl with its abundant shopping, restaurants and bars is just a few miles down the street, and is easily accessed by walking through downtown, bike or bus.
Our city just announced a $40million dollar investment into the Alamodome (1.8mi away) prior to the NCAA Final Four Game, is finishing the renovation of the brand new Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center (.6mi), and is creating 4 brand new parks in Hemisfair Park (.5mi away)...this is definitely the place to be!
B-cycle, skateboards, bikes, bus...I haven't seen a jet pack yet, but you would definitely find it here in Southtown first...
Other things to note
WE GIVE BACK.
Following our son's diagnosis of Williams Syndrome, we made it a family goal to learn, research and give to this amazing association. You've never met a more wonderful human being than a child with Williams Syndrome.
A PORTION OF YOUR RENTAL GOES DIRECTLY TO THIS ORGANIZATION!
So thank you. You just did a good thing.
WE LOVE PETS!
You and your pets (up to two) are welcome to stay with us. We are true animal lovers, and in addition to rescuing more than 6 dogs and cats since moving to San Antonio in 2013, we share our home with two rescue doggies -- a Korean Jindo and a standard Poodle. We are also the care-takers of 2 outdoor (formerly feral) kitties, and a few laying hens. Our pets are kept entirely separate from our rentals, but you are welcome to visit any of them if you like.
To account for cleaning, and any additional wear and tear on the furnishings and floors, we do charge a $10-night fee per night per pet.
While the Texas Legislature decides on the laws governing short term rentals, we have already reviewed the laws and have become compliant with all the potential code, fees and legal structure that it may require (if passed). We support all legal endeavors and hope you do the same!

Hi there! We love to laugh, enjoy good food and best of all...explore!
I'm an Air Force radiologist, and Kimberlee is a professional sommelier and now an amazing small business owner preserving historic homes in San Antonio! Our young son, and I have four lovely rescue doggies (1-standard poodle and 1-Korean Jindo and some lovable American Stratfordshire Terriers), 2 adopted feral cat rescues, a small flock of rare-breed, urban chickens, a Betta and a horse -- none of whom will be a part of your stay with us, unless of course, you want to meet them.
We love AWESOME food, craft beer (no shortage of those here), and great wine (also, no shortage). We have a strong passion for architecture and preservation, which carries over into our homes.
Our favorite part of hosting is meeting new people, sharing the incredibly diverse history of our neighborhood with them, and then hearing about their San Antonio adventures. Although we deeply respect our guests' privacy, we like to make ourselves available whenever any of them may need us. To that end we have round the clock guest services and a small staff of handymen, cleaning crew, and concierge services.
OUR PROFESSIONAL AND TIMELY RESPONSE, HIGH QUALITY HOMES, FURNISHINGS AND COMMITMENT TO LUXURY (ORGANIC COFFEE, TEA, FLUFFY ROBES, HIGH SPEED INTERNET, NO VOC PAINTS, AND GREEN BUILDING TECHNIQUES) ITEMS IN OUR HOMES SEPARATES US FROM OTHERS.
Living in the heart of San Antonio's hottest historic district, we are part of a lovely community committed to resurrecting the downtown, urban core. We are proud to have been named the 2015 Green Builder of the Year and carry this ethic into our collection of botique homes.
We love the people of Southtown, the walkability, the restaurants, the River, and all of the amazing places to explore around our neighborhood. Every year we work with the city donating our time, effort and resources to rebuilding homes probono. We have also contributed thousands of $$$ in profit to various local and national nonprofit organizations.
We look forward to having you stay with us!
